What a bunch of losers. :face_with_symbols_on_mouth:

I am disappointed that the camera switched into night vision mode halfway through the process after starting out in full color mode. I’m assuming it did this due to there being less light on the left side.

Where was this?

It’s not supposed to switch modes regardless to the light if that’s what you’re referring to.

Did you not have the camera alarm set to on?..

If I’m thinking of this correctly, doesn’t the infrared detect light and turn on night vision when low light or no light is detected? If so, this would be the reason it would switch to black and white night vision. If I’m wrong, please explain how else that would happen.

Good morning. I have both Eufy 2C Cams ( I’ve had six of them for 6 years now), and two of the SoloCam S340 Cams that runs off of the S380 Homebase Hub. Neither of these cameras, nor any security cameras with infrared, changes lighting modes automatically regardless of if the lighting around the cameras change or not. Infrared lighting simply enables security cameras to see in black, and white in pitch black by emitting invisible light that bounces off of objects creating black and white images. It does not automatically adjust, or switch between black and white and color modes. The camera’s built in white light, or flashlight if you will allows security cameras to see in color at night. Hence, the Color Night Vision setting. It’s simply controlled by an internal light/flashlight that comes on when the sensor is activated or you’re live viewing. However, if you have one of your cameras setup where there is ie a porch light on all night, the porch light acts like a flashlight giving the camera a source of light all night. So, it will most likely provide the camera with enough light that if doing all the things and recording, it should be in color even if it’s set to Black and White. However, I set all of my cameras to Night Vision Color so that the cameras’ internal lights always come on when recording. Especially, on the SoloCam S340 because when it tracks or rotates, it can lose light from the porch light and I want to ensure that my nighttime recordings are in color. If you have a camera set to ie Night Vision Black and White, it will stay, stream live, and record in black and white mode all night no matter how the lighting around it changes because the spotlight/flashlight will never turn on. So, regardless of if ie a garage sensor light comes on at night brightening the area around the camera, the camera will not “automatically switch” to Night Color Mode. Think of it simply as a flashlight on your cell phone camera, but there’s only 2 modes. There’s no “automatic” flash setting. It’s either set to on, or off depending on how you set it. Same if you have Night Vision set to Color. The camera will also record, view, and stay in color mode no matter what because the internal light comes on when activated either by the sensor, or viewing/streaming live. Even if it’s pitch black. Another way to test this is even during the day. If you set it to Night Vision B&W and just view/stream during the day, you won’t see the flashlight symbol light up/come on, but of course everything will be in color because it’s daytime. In other words, everything is manual except the camera views in color always during the day because it doesn’t need infrared. I hope this information was helpful, and helped you understand infrared a little more. I certainly hope I understood your question correctly, and didn’t reiterate anything you already knew. Lol Feel free if you have any more questions, to reach back out to me at any time. Have a great day!

Wow that was a lot to read but you are wrong I have now 19 cameras and when night vision is selected and in black and white as soon as day light or if I turn on spot lights on outside or lights inside where I have inside cameras the night vision turns off and then back on when I turn off the ambient lights so that would make them “automatic “

This is exactly what I was trying to explain as well. I believe you and I are on the same page then.
