From my understanding 2.4ghz has better reach than 5ghz. In have not researched this, but it was my thought that was why almost every smart device was 2.4. You can ignore my 2 cents. 
EDIT: I noticed you said said 5g. Now Iām not sure if you meant 5g or 5ghz.
