Always going to be the PTZ! When you can get a floodlight and PIR Out-Of-View detection, that just can’t be beat.

This is actually a tough question because I’ve just recently begun integrating S4 Max cameras into my Eufy ecosystem where I don’t have to choose and I always call my ā€œbullet camā€ the ā€˜overwatch’ for the PTZ turret and love having both. That said, if I could pick only one, the ability to patrol and have near 360 FOV with PTZ? Not something I could give up! So, for me while the ideal is both, PTZ would be my ā€œif you could only pick oneā€ for sure even though I still value the fixed coverage and dependability you get from the bullet-cams which is why my own setup includes a mix now of S330s, S340s, and now the S4 Max cams. Likewise PTZ for the interior with the S350. For me, that gives the best of both providing cross-coverage in key areas be it by having S330s and S340s work together or now in some spots the S4 Max cams which double down to provide both. Thank you for the community post and may the odds be in everyones favor even if I’d love a set of E10 lights myself

I would go with the PTZ over bullet camera because it allowed for better coverage of a larger area. A bullet cam is nice on a narrow FOV, but if you want full coverage, especially in a large area, then a PTZ is better suited for tracking and capturing events.

Pan tilt for me. Only because I have a large area to monitor. If there were choke points, my answer might be different.

PTZ because it has it ā€œallā€ light, angles and so on.

I’ve the bullet and it is great for it use, but its abit harder to place it overall. PTZ cover it all

I would choose the Pan&Tilt Cam anytime!. I don’t really like how the Bullet Cams are fixed, the ability to remotely control the camera’s movement allows me to monitor a much wider area, almost as if I have multiple cameras in one! Whether it’s tracking motion across a large backyard, checking different angles of a room, or following an objects path, the Pan&Tilt feature ensures that there’s no blind spots. The convenience of adjusting the view via the app is definitely a game changer!!!

Im in high spirit.
S that the camera system might have now work better for me than the last one I had.Almost wish that the two systems I have were compatible together because then I would feel like I’m getting more out of my money than what I already have. The small conveniences like that I believe are necessary

You can control the camera

The one I can control wins.

I would say the PTZ cameras are the type that I really wish I had. I at least want to integrate a couple in order to be able to cover the larger areas around my house instead of installing multiple fixed bullet cams in the same spot to view the area.

Why would anyone prefer a bullet cam unless it has other better features that the pan cam doesn’t have? Yes, pan cams are more involved to set up and can be more complicated to manage, and I do find image quality can be blurrier if the pan cam is is scanning or tracking, but you could always just use a pan cam as a fixed cam if the specs are otherwise equal to the bullet cam. Plus, then if you need to, you can manually go in and control/rotate the camera to check anything that’s outside of it’s fixed field of view. In fact, just this morning I needed to check the action in the far corner of the a field, and even though I had 2 bullet cams pointing in opposite directions, it’s a large area and what I needed to see was out of frame. In fact, I had the cameras adjusted to avoid shadows and branches triggering the cameras. Which brings me to another point: a pan cam can be adjusted remotely if you find that changes in the environment have begun to trigger runaway recording. In the past with a bullet cam, I just had to turn the camera off when a branch got too low and started triggering recordings. But with a pan cam, even if you are not on site, able to trek out and adjust the cam, you can simply rotate it away to a new fixed position or adjust waypoints remotely, and if the interference ends, you can revert to the previous settings or rotate as needed with just a few taps. No ladders, no drills, no drama!

I’ve got a mix of pan-tilt and bullet cams, and honestly both have their strengths. But if I had to choose, I’d probably lean toward the pan-tilt. I really like that I can rotate it when needed, and the tracking feature comes in handy for areas that need wider coverage. It’s nice having that flexibility without having to install multiple cameras.
That said, I still use and appreciate the bullet cams too. They’re great when you just need to monitor a specific area and want something reliable and simple.
So while it’s a tough call, I’d give the slight edge to the pan-tilt for its versatility and smart features.

PTZ for sure. Can’t beat the coverage area.

Wow, fifty is a lot of words for a comment about my preference for exterior security cameras. I’ll have to roll up my sleeves and put some real elbow grease into this one. I’m mean, there are a lot of experts already commenting in this like it’s a doctoral thesis. Hmmm…I guess that was fifty already. Went a lot faster than I thought it would. Sure will miss all you folks. I totally forgot the question…um… The panning one… With a remote… Have a great day!

I have a large area I need 2 cameras to cover it currently with watchdog feature or person moving to the next area ,the ptz is a no brainer.

This one is tough because both are nice. Since there’s more cameras on the tilt, I chose that. I would choose the bullet for basic set ups. The PTZ is better to scan better areas. If you just want a small area to cover it would choose the bullet, maybe for side of the house. It all depends on what you need the cameras for.
