Had an Electrician hardwire doorbell but it’s still not charging. Any ideas or help please?
Forgot to add I’m in the U.K.

It’s not always going to show charging but check under power management. Mine sometimes shows it’s charging with a green electric plug looking thing where the battery symbol is. but I have never seen it get to 100% or below 85% but because it’s connected to a power supply it’s never stopped working for low power and mine has been installed for 2 years and I’ve never had to remove it to charge it. Hope this makes sense. I think the door bell decides when it wants to charge.
I thought this was a wind up!
The plug is not switched on! ![]()
Not a wind up, it’s not working so we switched it off.
There is no green light and we saw the battery power drop by 2% whilst it was plugged in and switched on. Are you saying it does not constantly charge when it’s powered?
Which doorbell do you have?
Like @ele1980 had said they don’t charge all the time they only charge when they need to be… There is some sort of low battery threshold at a certain percentage the battery will begin to charge.
Yeah That’s the case
It’s a smart system to prevent batterydraining. So it’s never under 85% en i believe not above 90 or 95% , so by design what you describe
I have the E340 doorbell
It probably is working just give it time like I said and JD said it will not show charging all the time. Once mine goes into a charging cycle I’ll post a screenshot
Ok I see, I didnt understand,
Have you had any luck fixing it and getting it working?
Here is 2 screenshots 1 is before changing cycle and 1 is during changing cycle you can’t tell but the green battery is pulsating. I forced it to drain battery by leaving it on live view for a couple of hours
Yes it decides when it wants to charge
Its not started to charge yest and its down to 79%
Yet not yest
No luck yet and the battery is at 79%
My last thought is did the electrician test for power on the wires at the doorbell camera. Maybe the transformer is bad or he shorted out the wires when he reinstalled the camera. If they got shorted it will damage the transformer they usually don’t have a fuse on the low voltage side so if so it’s junk. it’s easy enough to do that because there isn’t a lot of space behind it. Are you 100% sure there is power at the outlet the transformer is plugged into? Can you plug in a lamp to test that?I don’t know if I mentioned it but I’m a 58 year old electrician myself and I normally test for proper power before connecting the camera
Yes there is power at the socket/outlet, I watched the electrician test it. Not sure about the doorbell wires, I will text what you have suggested to my Electrician and see what he says.
