I purchased a s340 to try eufy as i want to move away from Blink. Initially we mounted on post at deck level but it was not picking up our dog in backyard or any wildlife (we have a lot on this mountain). It was bout 14ft above backyard so we moved it down to about 9-10’ above ground. Ive set the tilt and preset views and the activity zone and checked the box to capture all movement and sensitivity to 7. There were several crows just outside our fence on the ground later - approximately 25-30k from the cam. It did not pick them up. This is the only eufy cam we have as we are testing it..no hub. Is the lack of a hub impacting the PIR? The cam is well connected to our WiFi. Thanks in advance of any guidance.
No, the lack of the hub (HomeBase) won’t impede motion detection.
I don’t believe that camera has a dedicated animal / pet detection option.
Is the camera detecting human movement?
To pick up critters or any movement you’ll need to select All other Motion or All Motion in the Detection Settings.
Also when you select that you’ll probably want to lower the sensitivity a bit.
Thank you for the response. I think I figured it out. I understand I do need an activity zone. While creating that I realized when I attempted to move one of the “handles” to stretch the area I was causing the view to pan so the zone I created was too large. I created a reasonable zone and captured a deer yesterday evening. This camera was my trial of Eufy and soon I will purchase the home base and an S4 and put the s4 out back and move the s340 to the front. Thanks again for your response!

Just to say, an Activity Zone is only required /needed if you don’t want the camera to detect movement in a certain area.
Anything outside of the Activity Zones border lines will be dismissed.
So in other words… If you have no need of an activity zone, then don’t use one.
That is what I thought but when I didn’t have the activity zone it wasn’t catching anything. I read somewhere is the area is large to out in a zone to better pick up small animals etc. Anyway it picked up the deer and I will move it and replace with the S4 later for larger coverage and the radar ;).
