Solar wall light S120 died. Not sure if it was related to all the rain or not. Tornado strength winds and rain finally tore it down, because I don’t have a lot of free time, I unfortunately left it there. It still worked at the time. Once the battery died, it seems to have died. Brought in to charge. It won’t charge. Water was dripping out so let it dry out for a few days. Tried numerous charge cables including the original and my iPhone charge cord. It’s out of warranty, so no point contacting Eufy. Considering replacing it, however stumbled on batteries for it on Amazon, they just randomly came up in a search for the camera.
Since it is out of warranty, I have disassembled the back hoping it might dry out faster. I did this last night actually. One wire from the battery snapped, should I just try replacing it for $30 or toss it and replace when I can?
I don’t know, they connect somewhere under the blue wrap. Not too sure but I have a feeling the rain got in it too, I was tempted to cut the wrap and check into it, but overall I went ahead and ordered the other battery. Hoping that will bring the cam back to life.
If I find time, I guess I could cut into the battery and figure out if it’s possible, but looking at the end where the wires come from doesn’t really help.
Side note the replacement battery is supposed to be 6800 mah opposed to original battery of 5000 mah.
Thanks, going to give it a try, hoping it’ll at least do something, but part of me just feels it may be a lost cause and I’ll eventually have to just get a replacement…
It’s one of the two red wires that appeared to be a clean break, just not sure if I want to cut that blue wrap and dig into it.
It may have broke in the process of dismantling the camera. There is nothing that allows it to sit snuggly in place, I’m sure fully assembled it’s fine but opened up and shifting around, it will flop out.
Purchased these cameras June of last year. Tried a few different adhesive mounting techniques. The camera took quite a few falls until I found alien tape (ha) and pretty much always had a rattle, but that was fine. USB C charge port worked just fine. Looks like this event took the second screw that held it place out (cause suddenly you can’t actually use a usb c charge cable while assembled) I’ve found the screw mounts were cracked down the sides and glued it back together… Can now use the USB C charge port. Hopefully this and a new battery will bring it back to life.
Did not work, at this point I’m wondering if I got a defective battery, has a strong I want to say acidic smell, but really more chemical. Popped in (it actually sits snuggly in place unlike the one that was in it) plugged to the main board and had it in the charger now for well over 24 hours. Could feel it warming up slightly within the first few hours but the charge light never came on at all, and everything is cold to the touch. I have tried multiple charge cables including the original, my iPhone and two different 240 watt charge cables. Nothing…
That sucks, I would say the battery is probably good then. Possibly something wrong with the circuit board in the camera itself.
Do you have a multimeter/volt meter to see what the voltage is on the battery?
You can probably return the battery and just say it doesn’t work, to get your money back..
Yeah likely the camera, all the heavy rains and the tornado that blew through here likely finally put it out of commission. Tornado didn’t kill it, but played a role, it was mounted using alien tape, tornado didn’t quite rip it off (I’m giving the tape credit it withstood 132 mph winds, partially ha) before using alien tape, everything I tried mounting it with it would eventually just fall off, some chips around the corners, I assume from the falls. It laid in the rain for a few days before it stopped working, but me working 3 jobs I’d always think about grabbing it on my way in the door before getting home and then never remember to actually do it. My other half has been keeping me stressed with his health, so it’s a combination of my forgetfulness and the rain, I think.
If repairs ever reach close to or more than 1/2 the cost of a REFURB replacement, I generally recommend replacing it completely and the S120 is on ebay for ~55 w/ 90 day warranty or you can buy it from several places for new for 75-80 and get another 1 year of warranty.
I’ll have to check to see if I can return the battery. $30 for it. Part of me wants to keep it on the off chance it’s good but probably best to try to return it. I really have no desire to pry another S120 apart to check if it is.
probably a lost cause sorry to say. I had a E330 get water in it from heavy wind driven rain, the camera worked but the IR AND Status light was messed up so when I opened it that part of the circuit board was all corroded i was able to clean off the corrosion which was causing it to short the circuit and when I put it back together it worked and is still working today 1 1/2 years later. So point is anything is worth trying
