SoloCam S340 streaming performance issues after App Update

After a recent Eufy Android App update, viewing events and live video from my S340 camera would freeze, stutter, generally be unusable.

Eufy support chats and emails were not helpful. Eventually I identified one simple change that made a difference.

On my router in the wireless setup for the 2.4Ghz SSID my camera is connected to, I changed channel bandwidth from 20/40 mhz to 20 mhz. This made a significant difference. Now have smooth live video and playback of recorded events.

I had never bothered to change this setting previously since it did not cause any known issues. However, the result of this change is no overlapping channels, less interference, and a more stable Wi-Fi connection for the camera. The only other devices I have on this SSID are smart plugs which are unaffected by the change.

While there may be reasons in some isolated environments to use the wider 40 mhz, apparently the trade off in interference is not worth it for most of us.

I don’t know what happened with the Eufy app update to trigger the original issue, but hope this info may help others who experience the same performance problems.

Should be a bug in the app or delete and reinstall the app

That’s awesome. I have been severely disappointed by my HB3 and s43’s. That is one setting that I did not adjust and I’m going to try that now. The stuttering is horrendous and I get a popping noise sometimes when the stuttering happens. Also when I try to review recorded footage I can only get about four different chances to rewind to a different time frame or date before I have to completely close the app Wait 10 minutes and then try it again otherwise I will get a failed to load message or it will just continuously try to load or say the home base 3 is busy. It’s like what’s the point if I can’t see the recorded footage why do I even have them if I wanted live view all the time I would just hire a security team. I’ve tried making all IP addresses static. I’ve tried manipulating many settings but my Asus AX92 has a lot of different settings. I even tried different routers. You got a little better when I change to the setting for connection to bridge also to 2.4 gig Wi-Fi band as well as the home base.
