3 Steps to Explore FamiLock's Latest Technology

Welcome to the latest edition of [Essential Vol.08]. In this issue, we’ll dive into the latest technology behind the eufy FamiLock. Whether you’re considering purchasing one or have already bought the FamiLock, this article might provide you with some helpful insights.

1. Palm Vein Recognition Technology

Palm vein recognition is a biometric authentication technology based on capturing the unique characteristics of palm veins. Since hemoglobin in human veins absorbs infrared light while surrounding tissues reflect it, sensors can capture a distinct vein pattern image after infrared illumination of the palm.

How to Set Up Palm Vein?

In addition to registering palm vein recognition during the initial activation of the FamiLock, you can also add palm vein data for yourself, your family members, or guests in Manage Access.

When registering palm vein recognition, open your palm naturally and place it about 10 cm (4 inches) from the palm sensor (For a child’s palm, place it about 5 cm), and keep your palm as parallel to the sensor as possible.

Special Situations to Note

When using palm vein recognition to unlock, please pay attention to the following points. Additionally, if your palm is too far or too close to the sensor, or if it is not properly aligned, the unlocking process may fail.

2.PowerDuo™ Power Supply System

A 15,000mAh large-capacity rechargeable lithium battery, offering the longest battery life for a video lock to date while being eco-friendly. When the main battery is depleted or removed for charging, the 4*AAA backup battery will be used.

How to Check & Manage the Battery Level

On the Settings page, you can view the battery levels of both the rechargeable battery and the backup battery in the top-left corner. By clicking “Power Manager,” you can see the exact battery percentage. From there, you can select different power management options based on your usage needs.

Battery Charging Instructions

When the battery is low, simply open the back cover, remove the battery, and charge it. At that time, the Wi-Fi connection will be disconnected, and the palm vein recognition and the camera will be turned off to reduce power consumption. However, you can still unlock with your password, so please remember it.

3. More Convenient Locking Methods

In addition to offering various unlocking options for different scenarios, FamiLock also provides highly convenient locking methods.

When You’re Outside the Door

When leaving home, simply touch the “Confirm” button located at the bottom-right corner of FamiLock’s digital keypad—this is one of the easiest ways to lock the door. Additionally, you can set up Auto Lock to eliminate most of your worries.

When You’re Inside the Door

If your hands are full, FamiLock’s newly added button allows you to lock or unlock the door with just a light touch. Of course, you can still use the traditional method of turning the knob to lock the door.

These are the key new features of FamiLock, and we hope they’re helpful for those interested. If you’d like to discuss more about FamiLock, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section!

I absolutely love this idea of unlocking the door with the palm of my hand. I do wish that palm locking was available as well, but it’s not a deal breaker.

I really wish I had this new FamiLock to install on my front door right away. I was just about to install the other Eufy Video Smart Lock that I already have. Now I’m kind of jealous. :frowning:

The future has arrived. I’ve been waiting for this technology for decades. I always assumed it would use face recognition, but this seems much better. When will it be available in the UK?

I love the idea, I’m just a bit leery of how secure it is, but I will be sure to keep an eye on this product as it evolves. Thank you all for sharing.
