4k for indoor and doorbell cams

Right now I’m using an Indoor cam looking out a window for security because i live in an apartment, I can get a doorbell cam with the boa… However, im waiting to purchase it in hopes that 4k will come out, what’s the point of security cameras if you can’t read car plates? 2k and 1080 isn’t good enough, for real security…
