Cloud free / no internet

I want to bring the topic back. It’s an cloud free product and if you lose your Internet connection you can’t access to your videos which was already created. I talk about the s380 and the camera system.

Is there any plan from eufy to fix that or make it really cloud free? I think this should be fixed.

Thx.

Hi I have a question, are you using the cloud service or not?
Before I give a go at a reply.

The videos are recorded on either a micro SD card or the homebase. Even without the internet connection - they WILL record. If you are using the cloud based service and pay monthly, and YOUR internet goes down, it won’t work.
The camera needs to be able to record somewhere.

cloud storage = internet down/camera down

local storage = recording regardless, and you can access the footage later (when you have internet access)

First of all. I don’t use a cloud service. I use eufy since more than 4 years. Don’t worry I know how I write about.
If the internet connection goes down you can’t access your videos. Yes I can look at my camera or use rstp but that’s not what we are talking about. We talk about if you lose your internet connection you can’t look at you videos on the box. Yes sure I can use an stick or usb drive to archive them but that also what I am talking about.

There is no hidden super cool feature which solve this. It’s lack of support or not implemented. And yes I know that I can access my footage later but that’s not cloud free. It should be possible without internet.
That’s why i name this fix or feature request. If all people say oh it’s not there you can’t do it we don’t have any progress on the world.

Okay, this is what I believe the issue is… Encryption key.
when you request to play a recorded video that’s on the HB or on the cameras SD card or internal memory the eufy app sends out an unique encryption key to the servers that eufy uses, it’s like a handshake to verify it’s you requesting it.
Now if the internet is down at your home your devices will not receive the okay to allow you to view your recorded videos.

Also if the eufy servers are down you will have limited access to the app settings and will not be able to view recorded videos.

A partial fix would be to have the encryption key to be in-house within the devices.. so there’s no need to connect to the server, so that when the internet is down, but you still have Wi-Fi within your home they can communicate with each other_kind of like how Live View works and how it’s still able to record onto the HB.
Though you would only be able to access the videos if you’re on your home’s Wi-Fi.
