After setting sensitivity to maximum the one at the front of the house has been very good.
(Wired Doorbell not so much)
We recently had a dark skinned person live with us.
The camera struggles more than normal to pick him up at night.
Even though you would think the movement would be triggered from heat + motion.
Is the false alarm triggering as it can’t see a face as easily?
Tricky to tell as need to look at the false detection stats… Wait for it not to detect him then check the counter again.
If the camera cannot detect motion after the PIR sensor detected movement, there will be no recording.
So yeah, hypothetically if you’d dress in black in the right environment (completely dark surrounding), you can bypass the cams without detection
I’m a black guy and about 70% of the time I seem to have a cloak of invisibility as far as my 1080p doorbell is concerned. I’ve noticed this on overcast days and evenings / night. Whether I’m wearing light clothes or not doesn’t seem to make that much difference. During the day it’s set to human only at night all motion. I’ve also observed this with visitors and delivery people so my conclusion is that the AI isn’t well trained for darker people when it comes to human detection and the motion detection in general isn’t that good with darker skinned people.
Do you have it set for only human, or for all motion? If it’s set for all motion it should trigger regardless of recognizing human facial features or not. I personally haven’t had any issues like this but I also don’t have anyone of a darker complexion living with me….
We just had a bike stolen from our front porch. Frustratingly, only 6 seconds of footage was recorded. I couldn’t understand why, given that it usually records up to 20 seconds when someone hangs around for a while. Reading the comments here, I realise that it’s probably because the person has dark skin. At least it recorded for a few seconds!
