Canāt beat pan&tilt (and zoom). Optical > digital all day
Love tilt zoom and pan options
Iād choose the Pan & Tilt Camāeven though I donāt have one yetābecause it feels like the future of home security in a single device. The idea of being able to actively move the view, follow action in real time, and scan an entire room without blind spots makes it so much more dynamic than a fixed bullet cam. I can already picture using it to check every corner of my apartment from my phone, track packages being dropped off, or even pan over to see what my dog is up to when Iām not home. Itās not just a camera Iād watchāitās one Iād drive
Pan and tilt is amazing, but they both have uses. Bullet cam for drag racer license plates at 3am, the AI security guard that tracks motion for the alleys.
Pan-tilt camera offers more flexibility. This is ideal for large spaces like backyards, warehouses, parking lots, or driveways where activity can happen in different directions. Another big advantage is you can move the camera through an app to follow suspicious activity or check different zones in real time and some have auto-tracking. If placed right, one ptz can track until the next ptz picks it up.
The pan and tilt offers better viewable angles and allows for more flexibility. The bullet; Albeit more aesthetic, is not as easy to secure or view more coverage area. The bullet is limited to defined field of view (Fov), which is only good for certain applications such as walkways or one directional viewpoints. While the pan and tilt is much more versatile in its ability to be placed in multiple positions for various formats of security camera surveillance.
Pan Tilt is preferable, not only because it can cover a larger area, but also because of the psychological deterrence factor. āGuestsā tend to be more unnerved by a camera actively following them than by a static camera - the former actively indicates to them that their presence has been detected and on some primal level motion is more meaningful than no motion. This of course also applies to color versus IR night vision.
Love my pan and tilt but want to try a bullet cam! Hoping for even clearer image on a bullet cam and this will definitely help eliminate blind spot on my pan and tilt.
I have ptz and it works great, except when I keep getting fake notifications even though I have privacy zones set up
PTZ. Allows for monitoring and catching almost everything; being able to catch the dynamic movements of humans and/or pets.
They are both equally good. But the pan, tilt i enjoy more of to be able to look around areas not seen in a stationary position. So pan and tilt for me..
Pan & Tilt Camera
I pick this cause there is no place to hide
plus they detect further ![]()

Pan and tilt all day. I have both and wish I only had the pan and tilt model for the others.
Nice
The PTZ because you have better control over the camera in live view and you can track the porch pirates in the direction they went or to their house down the street.
We have 10 bullet cameras around our house. For the simple reason of when we purchased our cameras, thatās all that was available. If we had the choice at the time of purchase I think we wouldāve gone with the PTZ. May not have needed as many cameras! ![]()
Hello, Iām also on the tilt team. It has the advantage of having a much larger viewing angle and since it can rotate, having it in a logical place, the other only allows for one viewing angle, so itās less versatile in placement options and you have to choose the right place to cover what you want.
Pan & Tilt Cam all the way. Itās like having a security guard who can swivel their head every time something moves. If I hear a weird noise at night, I donāt have to wish I aimed the camera in the right spotāit just turns and looks. One camera, total coverage, zero blind spots.
