Doorbell constant ring

When I first installed my doorbell and connected it to my existing doorbell, the inside doorbell would not stop ringing so long as the leads were attached. The doorbell operated on a 16v AC transformer which actually would output 20v on my meter at the transformer, but would only measure 10v at the leads. I suspect the large voltage drop was due to the very small gauge wires installed to the doorbell switch. I changed the transformer to a 24v model I got from Amazon and now it works like a charm and maintains the charge on the battery. The measured voltage at the doorbell switch without the camera connected is now 14.4v which evidently is enough. I posted this because it appears as if many others have the same problem and some have intermittent false rings. If you experience this, I recommend checking the voltage at the doorbell with the camera not connected. If it’s low you may need to upgrade the transformer which usually is installed behind the inside doorbell or within the doorbell housing itself and usually fed by your normal household wiring.
