Eufy doorbell rings itself

Our battery powered doorbell T8210 with 5.7.6 phantom rings a couple of times a month. @eufy-official would be great to fix this issue that has been ongoing for three years.

I set all my notifications to come from within the eufy app and not from my android system., this resolved the problem for me.

Having read through most of this thread, I’m glad it’s a known problem by Eufy users. My doorbell that I’ve had for over a year with few problems rang at half past seven at night. Nobody anywhere outside at all.

Disappointed to see Eufy doesn’t look like they’re doing anything to fix it. Now I know to throw it in the bin before it wakes up my baby at 3am or something. Probably won’t buy anything else from Eufy.

I too am recently plagued with this issue. Seems to happen more often when it’s cold and windy outside. It’s always fun to wake up with 86 notifications on your phone. :upside_down_face:

I’m hoping Eufy is able to replace the doorbell, but having purchased in 2022, guessing my warranty has expired…

I also have developed the phantom ring, my camera has been flawless for two years (dual camera wored doorbell) all of a sudden two days ago, at the morning sunrise the camera/doorbell bets a direct blast and the phantim ring begins. I will be reaching out to customer service soon and asking for a resolution. Since being bought by the larger company i am sure reputation is important and some resolution will be found.

Ghost rings since a few months, Eyfo doorbell out of warranty.
We have to live with it I guess…
Still a very strange situation at totally random times!

I have a Eufy T8200 wired doorbell which included a Doorbell Chime Model T8740 that plugs into a wall outlet.

The wall outlet Chime sounds randomly occasionally. Twice within the last week, which is unusual. Temperatures outside have been under 20F lately. The chime is in the house. Not sure if the cold is impacting the outside Eufy doorbell to trigger the indoor chime randomly.

When it happens, there is no one at the door, no notification in the app, no notification on my phone. Just the chime sounds once.

It used to happen in the middle of the night, but I solved that problem by plugging the chime into a smart plug, so that Alexa turns off the chime in the evening and then turns it back on again in the morning. So I solved one technology problem with another piece of technology.

Just adding to the pile here; I have a Eufy Doorbell T8213 that recently updated to firmware 0.1.9.5 that started self-ringing. I get recorded events in the app and everything. It’s done it several times this morning and rebooting the device and the home base don’t have any effect. Would love any workarounds (or recommendations for doorbell systems that behave properly)

Doesn’t work. I tried it too many times.

i think it starts happen after firmware/software update. Disable automatic updates???

Spooky

Issue is still happening, usually around 3am - 4am at night for me. I’m sitting here at 4:37am like a madman waiting to see if there is a pattern because I’m not getting back to sleep again. It’s happened 3 times since 4am today. Phantom rings at the homebase but no press or video registered.

It’s been happening randomly since I got the bell, but it’s been so random and widely spaced that I thought maybe I just imagined it while half asleep.

Thank goodness for this thread otherwise I would have thought I was going completely mad!

There’s no sunlight on mine, or moisture as far as I can tell, also temperature is mild, so I don’t think those are the causes.

The neighbour does have a fox repellent speaker that plays high frequency noise, maybe that’s something that could be interfering and setting it off?

Either that or there’s some sort of network request or restart command that Eufy are sending out that causes it. My money would be on that.

I’ve got a T8222 running firmware 3.6.8.

I haven’t yet but someone I know has had there indoor mechanical chime ring (always in the middle of the night) randomly but no app notification

Also happens

Do you live in an area with kids? I know our community group has instances of kids ringing and running away. We had this at 5am though (bright sunlight) no one visible in the video. Doorbell is in a porch so not exposed to water though moisture could happen over night. Saw a poster say it’s common on all doorbell but i disagree. This is a wifi connected so shouldnt have interfernce from other signals. It is battery powered so no voltage spike. Really it comes down to not being properly sealed for moisture or a quality control or software issue.

Do not appreciate being woken up at 5am on a saturday !

Mine’s for sure not kids. It’s been a few months since the last instance, but it’s happened again 3 times (so far) this morning. I left the camera on after the 2nd, and the 3rd time it’s ringing (on app and home base as well) with nobody outside confirmed.

The good news is it’s probably going to be a few months again before it repeats. (no, there it is again, even before I finished typing this) The more annoying thing is the graveyard like silence of Eufy on this very old problem.

Same here. Very annoying!

It happened to me; it connected and disconnected from the router. I reboot the Eufy doorbell, no luck. So, I reboot my modem/router and that fixed the issue.

Happened twice yesterday, and just did it today while it was charging, face down on the table.

Are you guys using a doorbell chime connected to a power transformer located in the fuse box by any chance? I had an electrician over for a different project where he mentioned that if the transformer box is too close to the fuses, it will trigger the chime from time to time. Hope this helps.
