Eufy Doorbell WiFi Problems

Hi all,

I have had a Eufy Doorbell working without issues for over a year. The last few days I noticed I have had no alerts, when I looked the Homebase 2 had a red light on it. I tried turning it off and on and it won’t connect to my WiFi. There have been no changes to my home WiFi setup at all. The only change I can see if Eufy had an update

I have since removed and re-added the device about 19 times and it will not connect to my WiFi, or rather it will connect and then fails at the test. Here are the steps I take:

Plugin the Ethernet cable and then the power
Add a new device in the app
Select Homebase 2
Once the light finishes flashing red and goes out (never goes blue) Hit next a few times in the app
I scan the QR code on the base of the Homebase 2
Press the little button on the back and get the beep and the Homebase 2 connects
Now I go in to settings and select connection
It sees my WiFi network and I put in my password
It tells me it’s connected
It then tells me in the app the unplug the power and then ethernet from the Homebase 2
Then it tells me to power it back on and wait for the red light to stop flashing
My Homebase 2 flashes red then goes solid red and just stays like that every time.

I have repeated these steps a number of times and it always stays red on the last part. My house setup is as follows

Netgear Orbi RBR50 with 1 satellite. The Satellite is directly above the Eufy Homebase 2. I have also got an old BT HomeHub 2 that is on my network as an access point and the Homebase even fails to connect to that WiFi as well with the same result of just a solid red light.

has anyone got this stupid bloody doorbell working on WiFi. I would expect from a company like Eufy and the price they charge for this thing to do the simple job of connecting to WiFi without any problems! I am about to throw this whole thing in the bin and go to Ring as much as I hate it but at least that thing works!

Sory to hear it. What firmware version did it update to? Worth mentioning incase there are other users struggling with the same problem. Given the circumstances i.e seemingly firmware related, do get in touch with EUFY support and open a ticket with them. They might be able to push a fix from their end. Unless we are seeing the start of a barrage of other users here with the same problem that is.

You might have wifi interference that is keeping you from connecting in that location. Do you get the blue led when hooked to ethernet? If so, try moving the Homebase to a different location after you set up wifi. Might also try changing your wifi channel on the router. That might keep the interference from messing with your Homebase.

The firmware version I am on is 2.1.8.5h.

The blue light on the homebase 2 broke a while ago it seems, this seems to be a common problem with them. So if I have no red light I take this to mean a blue light.

I have left my homebase and doorbell discontented all night and this didn’t help, done a full reset of my Netgear Orbi and still the same problem

I have been able to get the homebase to connect to my phone WiFi but it will not connect to the Netgear Orbi. I have also changed the Orbi to a different band and still the same problems.
