Eufy indoor can accessible outside of local network

Hi,

I just got a new Eufy indoor cam pan and tilt 2k and I am wondering why it is accessible via the eufy app outside of my local network. I have enabled the cam in homekit and when my homekit hub is not online I also cannot access the camera from outside my local network which is how it should work!
But via the eufy app I can access the camera outside my network!
Does the cam somehow connect to some eufy server and register there?
I want to be completely in homekit with tha cam and not dependant on some eufy server!
Can you please clarify if the cam is now also storing data in some eufy server/eufy cloud as it is accessible or does it only react as a relay gateway?
I don’t want this, how can I remove access to eufy server and only rely on homekit hub?
Thanks!

The Eufy app doesn’t store your clips, it sends an address that points back to your local storage for retrieval. That’s so users outside of their local network can use the app to live view and change settings. Most people want that functionality in their security system. The only time I have seen streams going to Eufy servers is if you use the Eufy Web Portal to live view your devices. The streams are encrypted, so good luck seeing whats being transmitted. Maybe the NSA could break it, but you can’t.
