Eufy security app location issue with modes

Hey team,

Are you using the Eufy security app Geo mode? There seems to be an issue with it not getting / updating the location on Samsung phones. Seems to work fine with. Google pixel.

Anyone else face this issue? Any potential solution??

I only have the system installed 2 days but it seems to work for the moment.
Il left my house twice and twice I got notified that the system started monitoring. And when I got back home, I got twice the notification that monitoring was cancelled.
Ofcouse I have the Eufy app in the list of unmonitored apps on my Samsung S9+. And I also let the Eufy app have acces to my location at all times, instead of ‘when using the app’.

If I notice problems in the future, I will repost here.

As you can see I got this notification when I got back home:

It is in Dutch because my phone was in Duth at that moment but basically it says: ‘the monitoring was turned off by geoofencing’

Ohhh cool that’s a fantastic tip!!!

I have done that and removed the app from battery optimization feature.

I’ll monitor for a week and update here.

Hope you are well.

Just a quick update on this. After we made those changes on the phone, things seem to work fairly well.

I guess it might be the Samsung Android battery optimization feature just doesn’t allow the Eufy app to get regular location requests.

Nonetheless, seems much better now.

Hello,

I have one complaint regarding the EUFY Geofencing Mode: it polls the location services far too often and thus it drains the battery on my Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. I would have liked to have the possibility to set the polling frequency. A smarter polling algorithm could be implemented. I am thinking of something like this:

  1. Poll location services. If current location is inside home area wait 30 seconds before polling again.
  2. If after 30 seconds the current location is still inside home area wait 1 minute before polling again.
  3. If after 1 minute the location remains inside home area, poll location services at 5 minutes interval.
  4. If current location is outside home area, and the distance between current location and center of the home area is less than 500 meters than poll location at 2 minutes interval.
  5. If current location is outside home area and the distance between current location and the center of the home area is between 500 meters and 1000 meters than poll location at 5 minutes interval.
  6. If current location is outside home area and the distance to the center of home area is between 1 kilometer and 20 kilometers then poll location services at 10 minutes interval.
  7. If current location is outside home area and the distance to the center of home area is above 20 kilometers then poll location services at 30 minutes interval.
