Eufycam 2 Battery Drain - me too

I have a kit with two Eufycams 2 plus Homebase and an additional cam, not even two years old. One camera has a massive battery drain, approx. 10% per day (!) after working flawless until three weeks ago. No configuration change, no changed usage profile.

First I let the cam drain until it deactivated and recharged: No avail. Then I long-pressed “Sync” and unpaired / repaired the cam: Again draining 12% since yesterday.

I contacted Eufy support and was told the cam was beyond warranty (1 year), so sorry. Really? The Eufycam is advertised with 1 year battery life … that shouldn’t count only once.

Please reconsider your answer, Eufy. Especially as in German vendor have to repair faulty products during a 24 months period (“Gewährleistung”).

Has anyone similar experiences and probably a hot tip how to completely reset / restart the camera? I’m still suspecting some wild running process, not really a hardware failure.

the first thing i would try is turn the camera off in the app and see if it continues to drain. if it does not drain after 24hrs try turning on the camera with all alerts or notifications turned off and see how that goes. if that goes ok 1 by 1 try turning on features of the camera with each feature giving it time to see if you can localize the drain. also while conducting this test you might want to also test the app’s possible effect on this drain by closing the app to see if that has any effect.

Thanks for your reply! I‘ve deactivated the cam for the last 3 days and it continued to drain the battery, now down to 68% in roughly five days. I continue to fiddle with the cam, but won‘t expect a change from less than a FW update … if it‘s no hardware defect.

Just received a response from Eufy‘s support: They stick to German warranty law to the letter, which requires me to proof that the product‘s failure is their fault after the first year. Eufy is requesting an expert report for that. Actually there is no way I could be responsible for this issue, so it’s obviously a product failure.

Wow: I bought a surveillance system for $$$ which is advertised with 1 year battery life and after literally two charges the cam is a brick and Eufy just doesn‘t care. Thanks for your service, I‘m done with this company.

I experienced a similar battery problem, though 11 months out from purchasing. Eufy sent me a free replacement and told me I could keep the failing camera. To get use from the failing camera, I found an inexpensive aftermarket power source, and plugged it in. If unplugged, the battery life lasts for about a week. I moved the old camera to another location, which may not be an option for your situation.

thats crazy bad product support. you know i like where 3333 went as a work around. you could get one of those cheap power bricks and leave it plugged in to expand capacity. it might at least make the camera useable.

Just a last update: I bought a 9m USB cable and connected the camera to a power supply to extend its lifetime (after rearranging my cams). Eufy support offered a 30% discount on any product as a compensation for a clearly faulty product. I’m done with this company.
