Yeah, I think the logs have been passed to 3rd line support, so maybe it’ll be in the pipeline for someone to look properly. Though for the price, the camera is superb and I know how much it costs for someone to spend time looking at detailed user issues (I’d be happy if I could see the logs TBF).
Hopefully final update. 9 days ago version 1.0.4.8 for the EufyCam E40 was released and this does appear to successfully address the unintended switch from direct power to battery mode. Therefore, the camera is all good. Excellent customer service and product development.
Glad to hear that. I haven’t gotten the firmware update yet, but I’m looking forward to it.
Seeing similar with one camera, seems to only happen when below 32 degrees, but when it warms back up it charges up again. Only one of 14 cameras installed at this point does this.
Sorry u guys are having issues is this with the SoloS camera or just battery powered because honestly I bought a battery one had so many issues that I thought why not get what ya know works and go from there so bought SoloS 230 fully charge pick my events I want recorded it has ai Intel so people in house it stops picking up on their routine after a few days
Definitely open a support ticket
Hi.. I just started this whole plug in thing / direct power today.. after getting this usb c power cable with a block at the other end is a two prong.. from Amazon and very highly reviewed to work.. though not listing my camera but the other Eufy lines like the beefier cousin being the Eufycam S3 pro.. and it is 5V 2A.. did a bunch of cable management and drilled a hole above the garage to pass thru the usb c end of the cable out and done some cable management using screw in clips and zipties to hold the cable in place and overall 25’, plugging into my Eufycam E40 which I pulled the trigger after seeing Lifehackster’s review on it. And yes I switched it to Direct Power and it works (done this prior to doing the whole wire management thing).. and then it showed.. some prompt for the first time whihc for the life of me I can’t recall, but maybe some thing like “battery charging is the same even when connected to direct power mode”.. well it’s been plugged in for a while and I think I saw the charging bolt icon blinking and I had this on optimal surveillance to also record cars, humans and pets and had the 4second pre-roll option on. When I go to live feed it loads up maybe less than a second sometimes compared to 1-2 seconds when I had it on a solar panel. I like it.. then I noticed later the battery percentage went from 99 to.. I think 94… then later 93.. all when it’s on direct power.. I then unplugged it.. (and this is plugged into a 3 outlet extension cable by the way plugged into a wall in the garage, with the other 2 outlets plugging in a myq garage door opener and a myq garage magnet mounted camera).. and.. well it still is in direct power mode as checking in the app as it doesn’t just automatically switch to battery mode.. and waited like a good 20-30 seconds.. so I just switched to battery mode.. then tried toggling to direct power and of course the error due to not being plugged in.. so right now its plugged back in.. still battery mode (optimal battery mode) but its charging back as I checked recently its 95% …
I moved from the myQ outdoor battery camera to Eufy and like I said I like it.. and it’s paired with a homebase 3. Asides from unplugging and plugging in since I have to move boxes and use a two step ladder each time to do that.. can I just switch from direct power to battery mode and see if that really charges it instead? but moreso what I’d really like to know is when 1.0.4.8 is being rolled out.. I checked for firmware updates and its still says its up to date being 1.0.4.4… and you’re saying its been 9 days ago.. I couldn’t find anything anywhere on google about a eufycam e40 firmware update for that version.. do you have it running on yours (and you have VIP access or something)?
should I just reach out to support and see if they’ll push it specifically to my camera or we just have to wait? I’ve seen other other comments where tho it depletes to 50 percent and it’ll change to battery mode so I assume it’ll just charge back to above that percentage and say.. manually have to turn on direct power mode when .. say at 80% or 100?
sorry for typing up a storm.. but I would like the 1.0.4.8 update to happen soon
1.0.4.8 could have been directed at my device I guess, since support were looking at my logs. However, shortly after my last post the modes switched again. Support are chasing the issue again - so maybe hold as 1.0.4.8 improved things but might still have a scenario for further improvement.
I have the newest firmware on my three cameras as of yesterday, and so far they have been working perfectly. They charged to 100%, and now they maintain the charge without depleting the battery life. I’ll be keeping an eye on the battery level and report back in a few days to see if it’s staying consistent, or if any old issues return.
I certainly hope yours get taken care of. I really do like these cameras, and the replacement cameras actually load video quicker than my previous. The battery issues were really the only downside. Fingers crossed everything gets fixed for all parties.
Yup, the issue came back but not nearly as severe as before. They stay at 100% but occasionally they start to use battery power while plugged in and not charge. Reached back out to support so they can review the logs again.
Ooh, yep, you reminded me mine switch back over to battery. I keep getting emails from support that they are looking, and to upload logs - so doing a bit more regular. For mine, there’s often some coincidence with a large power drain, like a spurious thread kicking off occasionally.
Hello,
I have the same problem on my eufycam E40. The camera is wired, charged at 100% and connected to HomeBase 3. The working mode is set to direct power with pre-recording enabled. Then the battery level drops slowly to 49%. As a consequence, the working mode switches automatically to battery and pre-recording gets disabled. After that, the battery level goes up slowly to 82% and I can enable again direct power. I am running system version 1.0.4.8 and subsystem version 0.0.2.2. I am facing this problem on my two new cameras and one has been sent to support for replacement. The same problem on two new cameras me think it’s a software issue or a design issue.
The portal offers various services, including certificate applications, government schemes, and permits, making government services more accessible.
Same problem on the replacement unit, escaladed again to support…
