Has anyone any ideas why my doorbell suddenly has started powering off. To restart it you remove the battery and everything is fine (battery at 100%) but after varying amounts of time it shows as offline and when you press the button there are no lights etc.
Just a couple of questions to better understand your setup:
- Is your doorbell running only on the battery, or is there also an external power supply connected?
- Do you have continuous live view enabled? (That can sometimes drain the battery much faster.)
- Is this a brand-new installation, or has the doorbell worked normally before and only recently started shutting down?
It sounds like the issue isn’t with the battery itself but with the doorbell freezing or shutting down. Since it only recovers when you remove and reinsert the battery, the causes could be:
- A firmware/software glitch
- Faulty battery contacts (loose or slightly oxidized)
- An internal hardware fault
You might try:
- Cleaning and firmly reseating the battery contacts.
- Checking in the app for any firmware updates.
- Performing a factory reset to see if the problem clears up.
If none of that helps, it’s likely a hardware defect and best to contact the manufacturer for a replacement.
Hi Dan,
Thanks for responding.
The original order ID was r02110256910s
Confirmed on 6 September 2024 so it should still be in warranty.
I have attached the confirmation email.
Yes, it is battery only.
It has been installed for nearly a year with no problems until now. The battery was charged a couple of weeks ago and appeared to be working. A few days ago, I noticed in the app that it was offline.
Continuous live view is not enabled.
