I don’t think calling the police would be much help in that situation. Possibly animal control, depending on the location of this bear. If the bear is located in its own habitat, then nobody should be called and the camera is probably not in the proper location. If the bear is on private property and is a potential threat, then I’m assuming animal control might be the ones to call. Of course that will depend on location as well since very rural areas may actually have police that handle this situation, especially if it’s a common scenario.
You’re such a kind person, and your response was really thorough. If I ever run into a similar situation, I’ll know what to do
But this video is really funny
I let animals be animals…the only reason why they’re coming into our yards is because their habitats are being taken over by humans…I had a bear in my backyard just last night, he just walked through, but back in June a bear literally climbed 13 stairs to get up on my deck to knock the bird feeders over, I woke up to the noise he was making so I ran to my slider to see what it was…he was probably 250 or 300 lbs, I got a video on my phone of him knocking all the feeders over, he was beautiful!
You may also look up your county’s local game ranger’s phone # and have it on speed-dial . If you can’t locate game ranger or their #, your county sheriff’s office should be able to direct you to the right people. Game rangers will usually try to:
*when possible, catch/relocate a bear that comes into neighborhoods or personal property as a safety precaution for property owner, domestic pets, AND for the bear’s safety
*tag the bear to keep track of that particular bear and keep track of how many bears are in the local area.
Police won’t be able to do anything…look up the agency for ur state to report near sightings and u can fill it out online. There’s nothing they can do. Action isn’t taken unless the bear is posing an immediate and imminent threat to people. If u properly report sightings they can track specific bears and their actions in specific locations and determine if further tracking & action needs to be taken. Every state has a different reporting agency. Google “report bear sightings near me” (or enter ur state). Visit this site for safety info Bear Safety | U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service
Now I know what happened
Did the camera win?
I’d be so angry if a bear did this to my camera!
I guess that bear is used to his privacy! He took that camera down real quick! I’m not sure how big the bear was, but you may want to mount your camera higher if possible!
