I have found where to enable the alarm on the homebase, but will it sound until I turn it off or can it be set to sound for a limited amount of time?

I don’t see a setting anywhere to limit the time so I think you have to manually stop it but I could be wrong.
Every time mine’s triggered I’ve stopped it but I’ve never let it run for more than a minute or so, so there’s a possibility there’s a built in cut off I haven’t reached.
Your best bet might be to turn turn the volume down and run a test
