I have an S340 and the home base 3 and it generally works OK but man it rarely detects faces.
Anyway to make the AI smarter? It is very weak now.
(I had said I had a homebase 2 but I was wrong it is a HomeBase 3)

Upgrade to the homebase 3 if you can budget it
I was mistaken I have a HomeBase 3.. It was so old i was thinking it was a 2… But it is the one with the gray top … I must have bought it when they were first released.
I’ve been having a lot of issues with my s4 Ai pick up a garbage as human
I have 2 other camera manufactuer CCTV, I never rely on 1, they seem to have plus and minus issues. HB3 upgrade on Eufy is a must, it will help your S340. My dome CCTV is not Eufy for many reasons.
Honestly, I don’t think there’s much you can do to make the AI noticeably smarter right now. I have a HomeBase 3 as well, and facial recognition has been pretty hit or miss for me. It does a decent job detecting people, but recognizing who’s who is another story.
I’ve found it works best when people are facing the camera directly and there’s plenty of light. Things like side profiles, hats, hoodies, or low-light conditions seem to throw it off pretty easily. Keeping the camera and HomeBase firmware updated is worth doing, and some people have had luck deleting and re-adding familiar faces with better photos.
That said, I think facial recognition is just one of the weaker features of the system at the moment. It works sometimes, but I wouldn’t rely on it to consistently identify people.
hopefully that helps a bit @Joe_Dawson
I’ve had my HB3 and a couple outdoor cameras set up for nearly a year now.
Initially, the AI would get confused on who is who, but you can correct this by watching the event and clicking on the circle snapshot of who it believes it is and you can either confirm it or say it is incorrect.
The more you do this the more the HB3 learns what people look like.
I have had it really go haywire before, but if this happens you can dive deeper into the app and find all the saved faces it has captured of people and you can delete the ones that aren’t them.
The more you can confirm or deny its recognition the better.
Also, it really helps having the camera placement be correct, its by no means super tech and it would really struggle to identify people at a certain distance, even though you can, the AI won’t, not yet anyway, perhaps when the AI Core releases with its far superior AI it’ll learn how people walk, their stance amd other factors to know who is who, without necessarily seeing their face directly as it will learn patterns and behaviours.
Currently, my set up for the front of my house (road side) I have a doorbell camera and a solar powers Pan and Tilt, but its pretty high up so unless I’m somewhat directly below it and looking directly at it then it will notice who I am, but I’ve turned recognition off because it honestly drains the battery so much that it isnt exactly needed considering my doorbell gives me direct facial recognition more accurately.
Hope this helps.
Thanks MRD…
I have had my cameras with the HB3 now for over 570 days and a few thousand videos. My issue is that while they see people and cars and pets it rarely sees a face that is obvious and visible in the video. I mean in 100 videos it will see our face maybe once or twice. Quite low…
I also think the S340 should track Pets … They don’t they only track people and cars but you would think they would have improved the AI to tracks pets as well.
Perhaps changing the detection range will help, the sooner it detects a person it will then try determine who it is rather than waiting for that person to get closer before recognition occurs.
It’s an annoying thing but something Eufy could potentially add as a feature if we request it…
Having an extra layer of AI recognition but set to half the range so that when a person is closer for that snapshot of the persons face to be clear could make all the difference.
I really appreciate the suggestions. But sadly one of my cameras that has the most activity I connected it to a USB power so it doesn’t depend on solar for charging. Because of this I was able to set maximum distance, sensitivity and maximum length recordings.
I did that more than a year or two ago and sadly that didn’t change the face detection at all.
You will jabe far better success if you applied an activity zone.
I believe that Eufy cameras take a snapshot of the target within tje first 3 seconds of detection, and if they are then too far away it won’t recognise the face due to distance.
Setting an activity zone obviously means you’ll not get every detection recorded so it is a trade off.
So you’ll have to decide what matters more for you, recording every detection but not having facial recognition, or reduce detection size with setting an activity zone so thst you do get recognition.
I have the activity zone set to my driveway and it is a large one … so people walking up it are detected for quite some time.
Anyway… I guess the AI needs work.
I also have one on a back deck and people get very close and it rarely says known or unknown faces.

Same issue here
Have you updated the device is auto update turned on as dont have a problem with any of mine
Yes my firmware on cameras is 3.3.4.2 and my home base is 3.8.3.4 and sub system 1.4.0.8
I have x3 of S340 with HB3 over a year or close to it and they used to track animals and pets and now they don’t and only track human and cars. Eufy is used to have good services and reliable. now im running issue with one of the cam is partial communicate and lots of delay. also the solar panel are not charging as much as it used to do. i had it same spot since i had them. starting to look for other security cams to suit my need. i bought x5 of S340 and one E340 and looks like Eufy is getting stinkcy with unreliable with their cams
