Is there any wa

Is there any way to set up the spotlight alarm to only trigger on motion/vehicle events?

I don’t need every motion events or animal walking by for thr spotlight alarm to trigger haha.

The S340 is terrible for vehicle recognition/detection

POSSIBLE Workarounds / close enough solutions - (Just give it a try)

Here are some ideas to reduce the false alarms (animals, etc.) but still get alerts for cars/vehicles more reliably:

  1. Use Activity Zones
Draw zones so that less of the areas with frequent animals are “active.” E.g. focus the detection zone on your driveway or the road area where cars enter. If zones are well placed, it reduces non-vehicle motion triggering the alarm.
  2. Adjust Sensitivity
Lower the sensitivity so that small motions (branches, small animals) are less likely to trigger. Might miss some things, but likely better than constant false alarms.
  3. Set Detection Type to “All Motion + filtering via app / notifications**
If you use “All Motion” you will get vehicle events (and animals, etc.). Then you can manually ignore or dismiss unnecessary ones. Not perfect, but sometimes better than missing things.
  4. Firmware / software updates & feedback
Since this seems to be a request others have made (vehicle-only triggers), you might check whether any beta firmware or upcoming updates plan to include more granular detection types (e.g. cars/vehicles). Also giving feedback to Eufy might help push this as a feature.
  5. Smart Automations / Integration
If you use something like Home Assistant, SmartThings, or another home automation hub that can interface with Eufy (if supported), you might be able to filter events: e.g. only trigger external alarm or spotlight when motion + classification “vehicle.” But this depends a lot on whether Eufy exposes the event metadata you need. (I don’t have definite evidence this is possible with SoloCam, but some people do use smart homes to filter alerts.)

I think i mistyped my question.. can I trigger just on person/human, or vehicle? I don’t want every “motion” event to trigger the alarm (aka pet, or general motion).

You actually can choose this now. In the detection settings (under “Empowered by HomeBase”), there are separate toggles for Human Detection, Vehicle Detection (Beta), Pet Detection (Beta), plus “All Other Motions.”

So if you only want the alarm/spotlight to trigger for people or vehicles, just leave Human Detection and Vehicle Detection (Beta) ticked, and turn off the others. Pets and random motion won’t set it off.

This is in theory, as I and many have posted on the lack of detection of vehicles

Ok. I guess I was hoping to have that all enabled during the day time, then create an alarm mode at night, that would “alarm” on person/vehicle alerts.

I have all other motion events not selected for notifications (only pet, vehicle, human)
