It is worth the extra money to get S340 over E30?

Dual camera is the main difference. Depends if an extra camera for zooming is useful

Great job

I think it is… It works so well, I just bought a second one. When you have one that works this well, why try another… :slightly_smiling_face:

Definitely worth it.

To me It all depends on several factors, first can I afford it, do I need the upgrade, does it meet the needs, in terms of performance how much is the difference and do I like it.

I have both and the solocam E30 is better. It records 24/7

The E30 is good The zooming might be worth it, but think about you can probably get another camera instead like once I put in the back of the house The E30 is a good camera. The zooming feature might be worth it, but consider that you can probably get another camera instead, like when I put it in the back of the house or the side.

Good start will see how it performs

I’ll be nice if they had the squares to hilight

Yes.

Im wondering the same thing

I have the E30 it’s great but I think zoom would be better as it’s not quite high enough resolution to read car registration plate at end of the drive if I see one on Amazon on offer I’ll upgrade and move the one I have around to monitor the back garden

I have both. I would spend the extra and go for the 340 if I needed another one.

If the E30 provides a more stable connection then no. The way the s340 loses connection and then fails to reconnect until the following day, repeatedly, does my head in!

I have the 340 and use the zoomed in portion to keep a close eye on the vehicles in my driveway and the wide angle camera captures everything else - if your view is close range only, then maybe only the wide angle view is enough.

I feel like the positionable larger solar panel keeps my camera charged bettet

We have 3 S340’s and 1 doorbell camera. Started with the doorbell at the garage door then moved it to the front door because of the field of view being limited with the fixed lens. An S340 was installed on the garage side to provide recording of vehicles entering the driveway, humans, and package deliveries. (Damage to the side of the house when nobody was home by a delivery vehicle was the impetus to purchase a camera - we were not initially notified of the damage by the driver and the neighbor’s cameras only recorded vehicles entering and leaving our driveway. License plate was not readable on those recordings but the vehicle clearly was not UPS, FED EX, or USPS. Used package tracking #'s and time of delivery to identify the company and delivery driver and to file a claim for damages which has been approved.).
Using the S340 in the driveway, with both close up and distant lenses recording, motion activated video of the vehicles present, as well as facial recognition quality video of humans is now available in segments that can be shared with investigating officials via email. This video segment is readily available in the events log without time consuming review of the entire data base which may be hours with other cameras using continuous recording.
The S340 allows pets, deer, etc to be ignored, or recorded. As mentioned above, the S340 worked so well that a second unit was installed observing the patio furniture and back yard.
The alarm function chases deer away from shrubbery without going outside at 0 dark thirty. Also, the infrared night vision on the S340s provides a clear picture of what or whom is outside our house and where they are. This is helpful in determining what items may be necessary to confront any threats.
Another great function of the S340s is the tracking and hand off feature where humans are automatically tracked from camera to camera seamlessly. I was so impressed with this that a third S340 was installed with a view from the street to the garden resulting in 360 degree visibility of the outside of our house from our phones or other devices.
While we are still learning the capabilities of the cameras we have installed and do NOT know the capability of the S30 units, we are very pleased with the S340s and the doorbell unit we have in use.
Weaknesses we see are the power supply to the home base and loss of internet access. We can address the back up power supply but back up for the internet connection is not cost effective for our application.
All in all we will have a great video surveillance system with about a year of activity recording for about a thousand dollars. It is worth that for us.

Yes your cameras are very good.
thank you Bob :grinning:

Hello! Any reason why I’m unable to see my playbacks for my outdoor camera?
