Motion detection stopped working after latest firmware update

it would be help us all if you could let us known on what firmware version are you having

@mar10279 do you have eufy Cam 2 pro? Are you on fw 4.6.6? are your cameras recording cars at night when left on human only motion? How old are your cameras? You will save me lot of hassle of being eufy’s guinea pig if your cameras left on human motion record cars during night. Please do answer this.

I have been back and forth with eufy support. Now going on 17 emails…giving them footage, pics and logs. The customer support engineer is playing the liason between me and the tech/devs. No solution yet.

Hi all just to update everyone on my problems with my Eufy 2c camera’s. Eufy customer support have advised me to return the system to the retailer to get a refund or exchange. I cannot see the retailer doing this when it’s a firmware fault that’s caused my issue. They will not admit they are at fault and I feel their response is of no use whatsoever. I will update if I get a solution but at this moment in time all I can say is buy Eufy at your peril their customer support is no support at all.

Eufycam 2C. It also had fw problem but new fw fixed it. As far as I know, human detection can be used during daytime and on night time the cameras work only in motion detection mode

i am sure the issue is not with just eufy cam 2 pro or 2c , as i have the same issue on my Vide doorbell 2K too. Again i firmly believe the issue is to do with homebase2 fw update to 2.1.8.5h.

So for anybody who has Human detection enabled, during night it should automatically switch to all motion which is not what is happening post the 2.1.8.5h.

The doorbell was last updated on 10 may 2021.

@agfraysecu you have been mentioning that about homebase. Yes it’s possible that it has nothing to do with cam and is entirely the homebase. Strangely enough eufy support haven’t even brought up the homebase at all while working with me.

@yafis , i have been working with them on this from past nearly a month now and i have been mentioning the same thing to them, yet looks like they are eluding this on the emails too.

I also believe the AI decision is actually not made on the camera , its may actually be done on the HB2 itself .

Again i only started having this issue post HB2 update

System worked flawlessly before 28-09-2021 5.4.3 firmware update after which human detect no longer worked on all motion detect was working numerous emails to support could no sort problem as they would not believe fault was theirs, they then sent a firmware 2.1.8.5h update to th HB this did not fix camera’s problems, they then push another firmware 5.4.5 this got human detect only to work to a fashion where during the day human detection worked but at night instead of switch to all detect it stays on human detection and records it as person only problem is a car is not human. Before system broke human motion detect worked in day and at night the detection was listed as motion, this system is not fit for the purpose it was bought for and not trustworthy or reliable to monitor one’s home and the support department are non existent I am so sorry thatI bought rubbish which I am stuck with.

@agfraysecu I am going on 23 emails back and forth with detailed pics and videos with csr.
My 4 new 2 pro cams work flawlessly on human motion. It’s the car that’s an issue at night on human only. Yesterday’s test showed that the camera leds status and ir all 4 come on when car moves in fov of motion sensor. It’s just that it’s not recording it. So the AI seem to be picking cars just recording event is not triggered.
After ridiculous testing and videos requey by csr I finally told her aren’t your techs aware of this issue themselves? Can’t they reproduy this on their own in a lab? Of course no response from her on this.
I have been up and down that ladder 10 times so far fulfilling their test requests.

@yafis i have the exact same issues albeit on the cam 2 pro v3.8.4
As CSR informed me there are 2 trains of firmware versions and for my serial sequence that the latest version. Its so frustrating that they are turning blind eye and constantly telling me , your issue is different to which when i challenged what is different , they have no answer. I have even pointed them to this thread to tell them there is no 2 different issue. Issue is very simple, If we are on human mode, it works fine during the day , but i night or dark, the camera pics up motion (as tested same same as you wherein the led indicator shows up) but does not record anything.

In its current state, This whole system is not fit for its basic function itself . What i cant understand is why can’t they rollback the `fw’s.

I think we all should hit them hard on twitter (Have found companies act when they are shamed on twitter)

Anyone on Home Base 1 with this issue? I’ve transferred majority of my cameras that are working right with the fix over to Homebase 1.

Yes, and feel like I’m back on the Do Not Reply list for no reason just that they can’t solve SoloCam S40 remote fix?

All I asked will I need to book a guy to come around to take it down, as it up a ladde way above my housing complex. Gives great video though and sun is keeping it going.

You shouldn’t trust any of these box brand security systems to monitor your home for security. They are inferior in every way. Its the price and convenience that most people are drawn to. The app is especially easy to work with and the features are nice, but the quality will never rival a system you build from scratch using real security cams. I can get 4k and 8k cams with real automatic zooming and impeccable motion detection but it will cost far more and be more of a hassle to setup. Even my simplisafe home security system absolutely sucked just as bad as eufy, as did Nest, Arlo, Ring and Amcrest.

If anyone is facing issues with 2cs 5.4.5 firmware eufy have told me a software update will be pushed in 2 weeks.

Cheers M8, but I seriously hope it will be fixed, cause this is a laughing stock. I got 0/8 Cameras recording and 1/2 FloodLight recording, so I wonder 1 just 1 working.

@jor1491 I would not put any faith in was Eufy support say because they do not seem to know what is going on with the firmware, I have lost faith in them and their products

Last night SoloCam S40 was firmware upgraded, still my problem exists. I believe I need to resync it to homebase to get it working again.

You can’t sync the solocam with the homebase.

What does it do at the start? That’s what I’m referring to, when you get it you have to go threw things with the app maybe I’m saying the wrong thing but basically the way you set it up gotta go threw it again and pair it to the HB?

I wish Eufy would spend more time on fixing the problems caused by their firmware update which broke security system rather than bombarding us with new products because who in their right mind would buy more of their reject products after this shambles.
