Yes i have noticed the same since the update the camera is not picking up people like it used to, i have had to but motion to on all everything and not just humans for it to start detecting again
Ive done that. What I discovered is that if i keep Motion detection to Human the system doesn’t detect any motions, no recordings no notifications. Changing it Motion detection to All, thats when motion detection starts to work, sending notifications and recording. Clearly is something to do with Motion control AI.

I’ve got the Homebase2 (2.1.8.5h) and 2 cams 2cPro (5.4.3) for 2 days now. I’ve never seen the person motion work… so as I am new with the stuff, propably my fault
Did the “5.x” routine (10 sec sync push)
After that a factory reset of HB2 (no problem for now, as I’m still configuring. But a factory reset isn’t an option for the future).
Still no person motion detect.
I can see the camera’s picking up motion (LED light is activating when I pass by), but no message or recording.
I send support an email about it.
Yesterdag I received the doorbell 1080p (yes: ordered a lot of stuff, also the smart home set is arriving next week…)
And with the doorbell, the person motion works (only on the doorbell of course)! Wow, what a great feature!!!
Hope that Eufy will fix the error. Now it’s sort of useless.

Same problem here, since the update very sporadic recording and notifications whereas before the system was perfect. If not fixed very soon I will return as now useless.

Same here. Changed settings to all motion and now appears to be recording. I only noticed when looking to get video of someone entering our property during the night (picked up by doorbell) and realised nothing recorded for a few days. I tracked it down to it stopping when the firmware update was done and then found this thread. First time a burglar was on my property after fitting the cameras and they didn’t work. Luckily he didn’t break in and nothing taken but still. Not good if you can’t rely on them. I tried Live Chat but that was comical.
Okay I have tried it out the last few days and it seems that only when a face is in the view, human detection somewhat works. When I walk out the door, I get no recording but the camera is turned on (IR Leds are on). When I walk back to the door, I 8/10 times get a recording.
I will write a message to the team on Monday.
Summarising, this problem persist only on the 2© Pro devices of the second generation (with the different set of hardware).
My cameras are also barely working since the last update. I hope this will be solved…
I’ve got this problem too! Everything working great until 2 days ago, now no motion detection recording or notifications. It makes the whole system useless!!
I have the same issue too, all recordings and notifications just suddenly stopped!
Sent an email to eufy support and this was the response:
We’re aware that some of you experienced the “not recording or notifying” issue due to the update.
They asked for some info on my devices and said they will send a firmware update. From other posts I presume this will be to 5.4.5, which appears to improve things slightly.
I will see how it goes…

Same problem here. After the firmware update no motion detection. Only 6 sec of fame when you put your face 5 cm before the camera.
Same here, since the Update to 5.4.3 no detection with my 2c cams. No videos on Homebase 2
I have changed motion detection to “all motions” and it is recording/notifying again, but I do get some false alarms given not restricted to human only. At least I am getting recordings again and would prefer to get too many than none.
I was very happy with my Eufy security package to which I added 3 x 2C camera’s and all was working and I went away for a week and checked my camera’s on 29/09/2021 only to find no recordings and when i checked there was a firmware 5.4.3 update on 28/09/2021and that is when my camera’s stopped working on human only motion detect and will only work on all motion detects. My one camera faces a road and now records everything even a bird flying by and the battery drain is excessive and storage space get full very quick, reported to support who have done nothing about it and seem to deny that their firmware update was to blame. I think it has to do with that new privacy mode that was included in that firmware update that broke the system so now I am left with a very unreliable security system.
I have reviewed a firmware update doe the 2 Pro: 4.6.6.
Will monitor closely whether this update fixes the problem.
EDIT: after the update I had one recording of a person walking away from the view without having shown their face.
So that’s 1/1 event that got recorded, it seems the firmware update fixes the issue.
I have the exact same issue but on firmware 3.8.4, in my case i started having this issue post home base updated to 2.1.8.5h
I’d try testing the camera’s at night.
Mine updated to 4.6.6. and picked up zero night recordings, even though you can see the motion sensor come on.
as per my findings- its semi fixed.
it still doesn’t work properly at night.
Hi Rajiv. Just got home and both cameras are activating and notifying in the dark. Appear to be OK for now.
I had a firmware 5.4.5 update late today on all my 2 C camera’s and as it was already dark will check during daylight hours to see if there is any difference so watch this space I hope my next posting will be a positive one
