My neighbor intentionally knocks my homebase completely offline. I don’t know how to defend against this. Any suggestions?
Hi, how can your neighbor do that because your homebase is placed inside your house?
How do you know your neighbor is knocking it offline. If he is getting at your homebase you have severe security issues with your network router. Most routers have firewall protection, so make sure it is turned on.
It’s not through the router. They are physically disrupting the signal enough to throw it offline. Sometimes it’s the entire homebase and sometimes they just target one camera.
By disrupting the signal or overpowering with signals.
I’ve seen them do it. I heard them when they were doing it. And they’ve tried many other ways in which I’ve manage to defend against.
Why is this funny?
I mean, I would get some footage of it and take it to the cops
I believe they are simply disrupting the signal or overpowering it with other signals.
First, is your homebase hardwired via, cable or operating on wifi? If wifi, then first try hardwiring via ethernet cable.
It’s on ethernet
Are you sure its the home base, not the camera’s wifi being interfered with? The home base being wired to your router/modem, shouldnt be causing any problems. If you internet/router is always fine, then you can kind of rule out your router and home base, meaning its the camera’s connection. You might want to consider a wired camera or one with local storage so the videos save and transmit to home base when the singal returns.
I am by no means an expert, new to Eufy myself, but hopefully this helps you determine a path forward and good luck!
The use of signal jammers is illegal in the United Kingdom under the Wireless Telegraphy Act of 2006. According to this law, anyone who intentionally disrupts a wireless signal is liable to imprisonment for up to two years or a fine, or both.
If your homebase is on ethernet, then it would be much more difficult to disrupt the homebase itself. It is possible the camera signal to the homebase is being jammed with a signal jammer. If you know for certain this is happening, it is time to call the authorities
This really doesn’t make sense because these units are very secure the only way to gain access would be through your Wi-Fi password which they shouldn’t have! change your password to a real strong one! Multiple letters numbers characters something that no one could ever guess. Could be a signal speed issue also if more than one person is sharing internet might cause it to go offline because not enough bandwidth to run it possibly. Possibly defective unit or maybe router also.
Wow that’s scary.
I agree with @gaz132.
@but649, do you have any footage showing your neighbor using the signal jammer?
Are they your actual neighbors? In theory, the signal jammer should also disrupt their house’s Wi-Fi or LTE devices.
No one said they were necessarily using a signal jammer. There are other ways to create interference.
This really doesn’t make sense because these units are very secure the only way to gain access would be through your Wi-Fi password which they shouldn’t have! * ***You are assuming acces was gained. I don’t believe acces is being gained but rather intentional interference and overpowering via signals. Signals can be overpowered and interfered with through many different sources.
change your password to a real strong one! Multiple letters numbers characters something that no one could ever guess. ** They are, so not an issue.
Could be a signal speed issue also if more than one person is sharing internet might cause it to go offline because not enough bandwidth to run it possibly. *** Not an issue either.
Possibly defective unit or maybe router also. ***That’s Not an issue either.
