I have thé notification on m’y phone the alarm in thé camera only goes off when there’s someone.
I have now returned this crap to Amazon and received a refund.
What did we learn here?
We should never trust Eufy’s products unless we read independent sources very carefully and research promised features alongside Eufy’s descriptions.
Eufy, in spite of great potential, if they want, develop products without focusing on what might be best for their customers, with the aim of being able to make money quickly without spending a lot of effort on support.
Eufy is providing very poor support and doesn’t seem interested in helping.
Eufy is very opaque when it comes to answering desperate customer questions.
Never assume that promised features have actually been implemented … even if Eufy then promises they will be implemented soon - it almost certainly won’t.
@Mengdi do you know anything about this?
Sorry to hear of a bad experience. I agree with you that it should be fixed, or not advertised as a feature.
My experience across the board with companies small and large - buy only based on the features it has today, and not the ones promised for tomorrow. If you need those features, wait until it has them or buy something else. And always check independent reviews of the features you care about. This limits early adopter ability, but I can live with that personally.
Also, detecting night humans is a hard problem - I have only ever found the regular sort, just hiding in the dark.

I would like to know if it is something they are working on or not
I am from eufycam 1 and this problem did not occur at night
This is very annoying.
I use the activity zones and only have the home base to alarm me from 1:30am to 4:30am but as soon as a
rogue fox jumps into my garden the home base screams at me as if there’s armed police trying to get in.
This product is so close to being there but without the ability to detect human only at night it is the final nail in the coffin. I had worked around everything else but it all fell apart when I got to this. I cannot wake up all through the night because of coyotes, spiders, fog etc. I am going to have to return this and hope in the future they can get this working. The only other cameras that support everything I need have paid subs and require cloud services which I am trying to avoid. If anyone knows of an alternative let me know. My list is:
- No monthly fee - no cloud required at all for any features
- Rechargeable 6 month minimum life
- 2k+ resolution
- local storage and clip playback
- Alexa integration (but needs to be able to support routines. The Eufy skill severely lacks here as well but I got around it with IFTTT)
- Human detection - and prefer to have facial recognition like Eufy had once upon a time
I’ve been playing around with the settings on the Eufy mini cam 2k. After watching what the camera observes with my eyes, I’ve deducted that at night in low light situations the camera will detect moving humans as motion activities. The range is much further when there is lighting whether artificial or natural near the area you want to detect.
I’ve also deducted that motion sensing cameras(any brand) can be circumvented in a variety of ways, so I’m investigating wired continuos recording systems at the moment. Power over Ethernet is looking like my prime candidate. One camera, one wire, straight to a recording device that has the option of going online or not.
