Until recently I received notifications according to the setting in Notification Settings of “Person Alert” ie if a Person/Human was detected a video would be recorded and I would receive a notification. If there was motion but no person then the video was recorded but no notification was sent.
Recently, I have been receiving notifications in the middle of the night because amongst other things the cameras (situated outside) had detected a cat, a gecko, a moth and almost every morning (really early) a bird.
When I raised this with Eufy Support I was informed that the system had been changed to send notifications at night time for all motion because the AI system was not always able to detect a Person/Human. It looks like night time starts at 5pm and goes until 5 or 6 am.
Apparently this new feature was introduced because of user demand. I have had my system for well over a year and never had a problem with person/human identification. I’m not sure how this “demand” was determined.
When we were robbed over a year ago (the reason for the system but after the event unfortunately) the police told us that most break ins happen during the day not at night. If person identification doesn’t work at night then presumably it wouldn’t work during the day either. If person identification is not sufficiently reliable then perhaps it should be removed completely.
Eufy seem to have no interest in changing the system back to use what is specified in the Notifications.
I don’t know whether I should turn my phone off at night and risk being murdered in my bed or leave it on and be woken most nights by a moth! Surely I am not the only person experiencing this.
What do you think?
