ok any guesses what could be causing this every night almost like someone’s points a flashlight towards camera to make it go dim? or why does light in middle of still pic go very dim

camera is mounted too close to a wall, eave, gutter, or ceiling, the infrared light hits these surfaces and bounces directly back into the lens. The camera “sees” this intense reflection, concludes the scene is too bright, and lowers its brightness, making everything else dark
You need to move the angle of camera so you can not see your wall or any object within vision in the frame that are close enough for your IR light to bounce of and confuse its night vision with it being to bright or to dark forcing your camera to overcompensate brightness

Yes you need to change the angle/direction a little. This happened to me.
