Bandwidth costs money too.
Now, to be fair, they should charge individual pricing… what if some people only own 1080p cameras? Unless this is some sort of slick way to get them to upgrade their cameras (after all, if they’re still using cloud back up when the price increase takes effect, it’ll be like they’re short changing themselves

Seriously for those of you who did not read the whole article, shake on you. 
You can use the SDCard, you are not required to pay for cloud service. It’s just a layer of backup
If you install the correct RTSP software. It gives instructions for each device in the settings page
I’ll eventually be using rtsp… by comment was about those who have the time, patience or wherewithal for setting up a server, a large majority of people just want to be able to access their cams with minimal hassle or brain power involved ie just open the app and tap.
I would love if there was a PC program that we could download and have access to that way. I’m not a fan of cloud services but would absolutely be on board with paying one time for a PC program at a reasonable price for local access and control with my own security
