Sorry but not a nice dog can turn on a dime and kill. People look up stories of “ well behaved pit bull “ turns on family child and manes or kills.

It’s the way you raise the dog although anything with teeth can bite.

This is true with 99% of breeds but not true with pit bulls ask any professional trainer if Pit bulls will turn on their owners even worse there young children which are at the same face height as the dog. In the USA 
insurance companies WILL NOT give you home owners insurance if you have a pit bull this is fact. They will not be recognized as a “service dog “ either in a lot of states.
That’s why I’m shocked there’s so many in these apartments, usually see people walking multiple at a time. Do appear to be friendly though, but I agree with you.

I’m just curious about the liability on an apartment complex that requires, name, age, breed as well as photos of each pet, the same place that refuses to accept outside renters insurance (I guess AllState isn’t good enough lol) pushes you to a certain company (who btw doesn’t even ask if you have a pet) or charges you charges you X amount monthly if you don’t sign with them… If one was to get loose and snap on one of the children playing out here, who’s liable?
As a Pitbull owner for years multiple dogs I have rescued for years it’s not the breed it’s the wrong people who havevthem I have raised Rottweiler dogs as well. I find bad parents with human kids worse at raising their children so do not blame the breeds
ceasar milan, aka the dog whisperer, has a pit he’s raised since it was a pup it’s killed multiple small pets and bit a number of humans. it is 100% breeding, that can be exacerbated by poor training/care. the claims that it’s just bad owners is a myth that gets ppl killed. ask any ER nurse how many dog bites happen with beloved pets who never showed prior signs of agression and were unprovoked. you don’t breed dogs for relentless, absolute visciousness, undeterred by pain (they chopped off their paws and made them fight, for select breeding) then put those animals in a home with small children. it makes no sense at all.
