S330 replacement with E340

I installed our S330 almost three years ago and it’s done well, no major complaints. It has recently had moisture issues inside the protective dome and when I uninstalled saw that there were a few ounces of water sitting in the bottom. Anyhow, this newer E340 is what I originally wanted - primarily the 24/7 recording capability. If the AI fails to pick up motion, I still have the recording to review. The S330 is hardwired, so there was no reason for not providing 24/7 recording. At the time, there was no other option in the eufy ecosystem.

The install/replacement was pretty straightforward. Mounting is somewhat different than the S330, but easily changed. I used the old S330 mounting bolt/bracket to hang the E340 strap to facilitate wiring. Then removing the old bracket/bolt and moving/screwing the new backplate required a little effort holding the cam in one hand and carefully using the other hand to screw the new back plate on to the junction box. Of course, I dropped one of the new screws while 12 feet up. However, I already had 3 screws in and it was strong enough at that point to temporarily hold the cam while I found the screw and prepared for another attempt.

Including pre-wiring the push-in wire connectors for connecting the house wires is a nice touch. Goes much quicker than messing with wire nuts for each wire.

My install was relatively quick and successful. The wifi capability does appear better in this model as advertised. The dual cameras is nice. So far, it is performing well. All of the new features and capability are just icing on the cake. I have my 24/7 recording now.

The photos show my old S330 ( you can see the pooling water in the bottom of the dome), wiring the new E340, and the final result.
