S340 will not pick up motion in activity zone behind camera?

I am very familiar with Eufy activity zones, have a solo cam and it works very well. I purchased the S340 for a patio and can’t seem to get an activity zone to detect motion if it is behind the lens direction. I have defined the areas in the presets and unless someone walks in the default activity zone, in front of the camera, it will not pick up motion or move to the areas behind the camera? I thought an activity zone was to allow the camera to detect motion not directly in sight of the lens? or am I missing something?
