I’m gonna take a wild guess….. one is council other is a bought house..??
I don’t mean this is a nippy way, it’s just i have a problem at mines with a bought and a council house…… and the people in bought house always complain about “their” property lol if it’s on their side, it’s shared I’m afraid…..

Not when you own the fence and boundary, you need express permission to do so. Who foots the bill of replacing panels etc, I do.

Not in United States. the neighbor does own there side of the fence. Look the law up. Maybe laws are different if you’re in another country.

Agree 100% if in USA, unfortunately in my resident country this does not apply. Land Property deed confirms I am the owner of the fence and the boundary. Yes if they built a fence further inside their boundary then it is their responsibility. I need an AI barrister to help me…wonder if SIri/Meta are any good to help me…

In :united_states:you used to have the nice side of the fence facing the neighbor but that changed. You also used to have it installed 1 foot back onto your property line but now it can be placed directly on the line

That’s what it’s meant to be here in the UK although you do get people who don’t adhere to these rules ! I know cause I had to apply for planning permission for my fence. As it’s my fence I painted it ect but if my neighbor who by the way is incredibly difficult to deal with, if she happens to put something on it, well it’s her side so what does it matter?! Honestly there’s worse things in life than someone putting something up in “their “ garden that happened to have YOUR fence there lol wow this is definitely a discussion that’s got people thinking and thumbs going crazy googling hahaha
