I have about 20 eufy cameras. Many have a local micro SD card. I am at the point that I need to replace them, but I do not want to clear out the continuous video recordings. Is there a way to migrate the contents of the card to a new card so that all of the saved clips and 24/7 records are kept in entact. This applies for a Homebase 1 device and several 2k cameras all with 128 GB cards running 24/7 continuous recording.
I suppose it could be done. You would need to use a PC to do it. Purchase a USB reader / writer device that will accept 2 to 3 TF cards (SD Card) of the type that you are using. You can find them on Amazon. They’re about twice the size of a regular USB flash drive.
Take the old SD card from the camera and stick it into the USB reader then place the new SD card into the other Port of the SD reader then use the PC to transfer/copy the info to the new SD card.
I don’t know, that if the video is encrypted that may hinder the transfer process. You won’t know until you try. Let me know how it works out.
So I am not sure what file system they are using, but it is not recognized by windows and my only linux boxes are running in docker on my nas so I cannot plug the sd card into them to test.
Eufy devices run an older version of Linux as an OS with the Ext4 file system.
Theoretically, you could use a Mac, Linux box, or even a RPi to copy your old SD cards so you wouldn’t lose older video data. You would have to do a full sector by sector copy of each card. The only files that aren’t encrypted are the log files. Unfortunately, Eufy does some management of the SD cards through their app server, so there may be problem implementing this solution. The new card may trigger a format if it isn’t a perfect copy. I haven’t tried it, but it’s on my list of things to test when I get some free time.
