I always wonder why didn’t it capture them coming? This is my biggest complaint with eufy cams at night.

Agreed. It would be great if it captured the approach.

mine sometimes captures everything then somedays not as well. I really think it’s the WiFi strength

If you have continuous power to your camera/doorbell, then the camera can more easily track them coming. PIR motion sensors aren’t very good at tracking motion directly towards the sensor

I have continuous power to the doorbell cam but it often doesn’t capture when people approach.

Not sure if it’s a limitation of the camera. I checked all settings and it seems like they are correct to allow recording as people approach.

I’m probably going to add the E340 flood light camera above my garage for extra coverage.

Yes that has been a big issue with me and Eufy. However, the S3 Pro solves that issue and has pre record and continous mode. With doorbells if it recording on the Homebase 3, they should build that function in as well.

Good to know, thanks. I agree it would be great if they built this functionality into the Homebase 3, since it’s supposed to be the latest and greatest.

So to resolve, the doorbell needs to be at an angle, right?

I don’t think angling it would fix it. As soon as the camera sees someone it should start recording.

As you can see in the video the camera has a clear line of sight so as the person approached it should have started recording.

It only started recording when they were already in front of my porch as opposed to recording them walking towards the porch.
