This woodpecker

This woodpecker put over 500 acorns in my attic.

Wow, what the heck for?
I can’t see it eating them, how could it break it open.

This woodpecker goes to the front of the house on the gable, pecked a hole in the wood which leads to the attic and inserts 5-10 acorns a day.

Wow, never knew they did that!

I wonder if this bird is clever? Do the acorns have tiny holes in them?
Acorn weevils drill a hole and lay their eggs in them and when the larvae (grub) are ready to come out they escape through the hole.
Perhaps the woodpecker is collecting them for that reason.

I do not think they eat them, I think it is instinct to place them in open crevices or holes.
