Unlock the Power of eufy | Is My Smart Lock Really Waterproof?

If you are in a town or city where it rains a lot (we’re looking at you, Seattle!) you might be wondering whether or not our Smart Locks are really waterproof? :cloud_with_lightning_and_rain:

That’s why we’ve drafted in our chief eufy Security engineer, who’ll delve into the juicy details behind Smart Lock’s waterproofing techniques.

We posed some frequently asked questions to our engineer regarding Smart Lock’s ability to handle rain of varying degrees.:tornado::male_detective:

 Question 1

I like in the UK where it constantly rains.
Can Smart Lock survive getting wet?

  • Don’t worry, our hardware is waterproof and will not be damaged by rain showers.
  • It is recommended that you use the eufy Security APP OR the KEY to unlock Smart Lock directly. Water droplets may interfere your experience sometimes to input your password via the touch screen.

 Question 2

I live in New York.
We’ve just had the tail of a hurricane roll through and it’s rained heavily for 3 night in a row.
Can Smart Lock survive such punishing conditions?

:man_mechanic: eufy Security engineer

  • For hardware: Our waterproof hardware means Smart Lock can withstand prolonged heavy rain.
  • For software: In order to avoid heavy rain damaging Smart Lock software, the touchpad features an automatic locking mechanism. If constant heavy rain is detected, Smart Lock will automatically lock.

*If you arrive home to find that Smart Lock has locked automatically, you can use the eufy Security app OR the key to unlock it. :closed_lock_with_key:

  • If Smart Lock does not open at all, it may be out of battery. To open in such an emergency, you can unlock Smart Lock via a power bank and a micro USB cable.

In general, most homes still have porches protecting the front door, so you can be assured that Smart Lock will be protected against both light and heavy rain.

If you encounter extreme situations where you have no porch or the rain is particularly torrential, simply open your Smart Lock using the eufy Security app or unlock with the key.

A little tips about unlocking methods :unlock:

Recently, I have seen many users’ questions about unlocking methods.

Our SmartLocks support four unlocking methods:

  • APP
  • Fingerprint
  • TouchPad (password)
  • Key

Very informative. However, can you please just fix the geofencing for Eufycam please. This has been in beta for 3yrs now, and still just does not work effectively. It is very frustrating to get a stream of notifications, because the app says your phone is “out of zone”, when the same apps map shows you pinned right in the centre of the zone.
Restarting the app every time you come home is not the purpose of geofencing.

Having just fitted my Eufy video dual cam doorbell we had a short heavy rain shower the other day and the top porch camera now has water ingress which is fogging the screen. I did notice during the shower that the was detectind activity without anyone being present.
I would have thought it would have been water proof. Any suggestions is it faulty and needs replacing or is this a common issue?
Looking forward to your reply

Only the Keypad “front” is water resistant… nowhere does it say that anywhere. In other words you cannot install this on a security door/gate that is exposed to the elements.

We have had constant issues with the battery. Eufy has replaced it multiple times but we still end up w the same issue. The only thing I can think of is that the weather is affecting the battery.

Not sure if this is the right place for this question. I have the Eufy 5 in 1 entry smart lock in black and I get the afternoon sun that is on the lock for a solid 5 - 6 hours. The lock gets super hot from the sun and what I’m finding is the lock doesn’t open and close smoothly like it usually does. Can the sun heat the metal to the point that the metal expands and makes it hard to lock and unlock? Is this normal? Do I have a defective lock?
TIA,
Jason

I can’t find the smartlock here in my eufy system to buy. I am handicapped and fed up with people not returning keys, or my son always forgetting keys or if there is immediate help needed but my door is locked. and I can’t unlock it due to my illnesses and I don’t want paramedics or police to kick in my 150 year old monument door…

The top camera on the doorbell has become misted - is there a way to clear this

My Eufy Video Lock is not connecting to my Wi-Fi door chime…after I scan the QR code it does nothing no beep after holding the sync button. The generated QR code does not scan the camera just flashes a blue light when I try scanning my phone up to the doorbell camera. I’ve tried all of the auto-generated suggestions but it’s still not working. A call from a live rep to assist with troubleshooting would be helpful.

My smart lock hasn’t held up very good but it’s still working. I’m not sure how much longer based on the amount of moister behind the touch pad. Its even covered by my porch so it never gets direct rain.
