Unlock Your Lights S4 Radar Power

Welcome to this episode of eufy Essentials.

Radar detection — the key upgrade of the eufy Permanent Outdoor Lights S4 — gives this smart light its “magic” of turning on when people arrive and moving with them.

Still, some friends have run into questions while using it. In this post, we’ll share 3 tips to help you master the Lights S4 Radar system.

:one: Radar Installation For best accuracy, mount the radar at a 30°–45° angle from vertical. Keep at least 1 meter (3 feet) of open space around it — top, bottom, left, and right — to ensure reliable detection.

Avoid placing the radar directly facing a wall, as reflections may cause false triggers or shorten the detection range.

:two: Surrounding Environment A constantly changing environment can lead to unnecessary activations — for example, waving plants, balloons, or flags in front of the radar, or heavy foot and vehicle traffic in its view.

:three: Fine‑Tuning the Radar If you can’t change the surroundings, try adjusting the radar settings in the eufy App: lower the sensitivity level or narrow the detection zone (in the Schedul Setting) to reduce false detections.

If there is a time overlap in the schedule, the execution of light effects within the overlapping time follows a multi-level priority judgment from high to low.

:one: User Operation Priority: Manually set light effects take priority over automatically triggered light effects.

  • Manually set light effects: Effects actively configured by the user at the current moment.

  • Automatically triggered light effects: Effects activated by preset tasks, such as Motion-Activated, Always On, etc.

:two: Functional Type Priority: Motion-Activated light effects take priority over Always On light effects.

:three: Light Effect Type Priority: Alarm Lighting takes priority over General Lighting.

:four: Time Setting Priority: When all the above conditions are the same, the light effect with the most recent save/set time will take priority, according to the Schedule save time.

The radar uses different colored lights to indicate its current status. Please refer to the following sequence to understand light behaviors:

:light_bulb:Blue Slow Blink : The radar is pairing bluetooth, which activated when you long-press the Sync button.

:light_bulb:Solid Blue: Bluetooth paired successfully. Connecting to Wi-Fi.

:light_bulb:Solid Red : Wi-Fi connection failed. Check your network settings or retry.

:light_bulb:Solid Red and Blue Alternating Fast Blink: Radar firmware is updating. Please keep the device powered on.

:light_bulb:Solid Red Slow Blink : Motion has been detected, and the radar is triggered.

:light_bulb:Solid Indicator Light is Off: The radar isn’t powered on. Please check the power connection.
