Why can’t I hear my conversation with the person through the camera?

Try looking in your settings.
a couple possibilities under the device setting audio make sure microphone is turned on and make sure audio recording is turned on and if you’re trying to have people hear you talking through the camera to them make sure speaker is turned on. Here is a screenshot from one of my 22 cameras
