Welcome to [eufy Essential Vol.06]. In this episode, we will provide detailed tips and tricks on extending battery life.
Through our community, we found that many friends still experience “battery anxiety” and have numerous questions about battery management.
Now, Here are 4 Tips to Extend Battery Life:
1.Define Activity Zone to reduce unnecessary detection;
2.Adjust Detection Settings & Power Management;
3.External solar panels to achieve continuous endurance;
4.Other detailed adjustments affect battery life.
1st Tips. Define Activity Zones
The majority of battery drain is caused by too many event triggers. Setting up Activity Zones is a key operation to avoid detecting passing vehicles, waving flags, swaying leaves, and other similar movements.
How to set up an Activity Zone?
1.Click “Activity Zone” then enter the edit interface. Press the Add button to create a zone.
2.Then tap the zone body to move and drag the 6 points on the sides of the zones to change its shape. and tap the checkmark , to save the zone.
3.Clicking the Add button again allows you to add another Activity Zone (up to two total) for areas of concern like parking, storage, or mailboxes.
How to choose the correct Coverage Area?
The images below show the correct and incorrect way to draw your Activity Zone. Click to learn more about Motion Detection.
Besides, you can simply fine-tune the angle to ensure the camera monitors the most important areas.
2nd Tips. Adjust Detection Settings & Power Management
How to properly set up Motion Detection?
Setting the appropriate detection sensitivity and detection targets is also an effective way to reduce battery consumption. Generally, adjusting the sensitivity to 4 or below is sufficient to handle most motion detection.
Then choose the appropriate detection type based on the motion you are concerned with. For example, if you do not care about cars passing by, there is no need to enable vehicle detection.
How to achieve better Power Management?
Tap “Power Manager” on the Settings page and adjust the mode according to your usage. Usually, the Optimal Battery Life mode is sufficient for daily use.
Additionally, you can set a security mode schedule based on your daily departure and arrival times. When you are at home, some cameras can stop recording to save energy.
3rd Tips. External Solar Panels to achieve continuous endurance.
To ensure that the solar camera can achieve the most effective charging, we take countries in the Northern Hemisphere as an example. You can operate as follows:
If there are certain locations where sunlight cannot directly reach but still need to be monitored, we recommend purchasing a camera with an external solar panel. Click to learn more about External Solar Panels.
4th Tips. Other detailed adjustments affect battery life.
1.Ensure a strong Wi-Fi signal: It is a way to continuously save power for your devices. Especially for those with larger homes or multiple floors, please ensure a stable connection.
2.The colder season poses challenges to battery-powered devices, especially due to reduced sunlight. eufy solar cameras are expected to operate normally between -20°C (-4°F) and 50°C (122°F). If the internal temperature of the camera drops to 0°C (32°F) or below, it may not be able to charge because of limitations put in place for battery safety purposes. It will automatically resume charging normally when the internal temperature once again rises above 0°C (32°F).
