Any thoughts on where cameras on the side of the house should be placed? The front and back both have pan tilt 360 degree cameras. I have 2 more cameras but they are just the 4k ultra and solar add on cameras. Should they be placed at the corner of home to try and capture anything?
Without seeing your location, it’s difficult to say. You might find it helpful to draw a quick sketch of your home, fill in the area currently visible to your cameras, and see what areas are left uncovered. Then maybe position the extra cameras to point at the most important areas left.
Remember, as these extra cameras are solar powered, you want to have them pointing in a direction where their motion sensors won’t be triggered so often that they run out of power.
(I mean a quick aerial view sketch)
The other side i need to place a camera
i also have the eufy delivery box on the porch but its only on battery so i dont rely on that one to record any motions unless theres a delivery being made
Also my house is facing east and i have full sunlight in front and back of house. No trees. More shade around the sides of homes. All the photos are taken in the morning if that helps with where i should place them for solar charging.
It’s really hard to say since it depends on what your priorities are. Since the solar panels are integrated into the camera, I would start by thinking about where they can actually get sunlight. That might hugely limit your options on the darker side, and perhaps the higher up it goes, the better.
I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how wide the viewing angle is on these cameras. Maybe get one out of its box and have a look to see what area can be covered from a space with enough light. Once you decide on a location, it might be best to only put one up in case you discover something that would change where you’d put the other. I know it’s tempting to do both at once, but I often find myself wishing I’d done something a little different with things like this.
Your setup is a lot like mine…I have a tilt and rotate in front and one in back…what I did on the sides, since it’s very unlikely the front cam won’t see them first…I put both side cams up high and almost aiming down on the passage from front to back. They ended up being high enough so you won’t even notice them if you’re walking by and don’t look specifically up at the eaves. This seems to work especially well with the cam to cam events the Homebase stitches together for me.
Makes sense… Question, so did you put them high towards the back of the house facing out to the front of the house on both sides of the house?
I put my side cameras way up at the peak of the roof aiming downward…for the back yard I wanted an angle like your photograph so I actually mounted the camera to a tree aiming at my back porch…seems to work!
aimed them down at the walkway…the camera in front pivots so it will catch any access to the sides then the sides kick in.
I can’t see the S340 in the back getting enough sun light back there were you have it… especially in the winter when the sun rays arnt that tense…
You might want to just use a plug to wire it in and it should be fine… Same way I have mine…
The one you have on the front should be fine. The one in the southern side of the house I’d put all the way to the back back of the roof pointing towards the front…
You should put one more camera right there one N/s corner of the house pointing north east covering the driveway all the way across the lawn…
Now like I said to wire the s340 in you can now use the solor as the solor panel panel for the add on your going to mount on the noth side of the house wich I don’t think is going to get enough sun either… having doing that you can now put that one on the back of the house and run the solor panel as high as you can get it…
I’d run a couple of indoor cams put the window as back ups where ever think is best…
Ment to to say, you can with the use of the solor panel that came with 340 with that last add on cam and mount it on the rear upper corner on the north side of the house… extending the solor panel out as high as you can get with the use of the wire supplied with the s340… You’ll need an extra mount to run the panel up as high as you can get it though. Just above the rooftop is were I’d say… and hopefully the combined two solor panels would be enough to power that last cam…
Actually I’d make good use of them two add on cams and mount up front of the courners of the house, combined with s330 you already have up there m, lapping them across the front of the house that way you don’t miss a thi g up there.
And just get a couple of s40 and mount thise two in the back corners facing toward the front just as I told you… that’s me though…
