Choosing the right Eufy outdoor camera

I am looking for the right Eufy outdoor camera.
Looking at the solo S40 or a eufycam 2. If put it on the outside wall of my house it will be exposed with bad weather conditions (rain and wind). I do read that the camera’s will get leakages.

The S40 is maybe interesting because of the solar panel.

Looking forward to hear your experiences.

Camera? Just need 1? And what do you want to use it for? Do you need the extra light in the area you plan to use it or is night vision black and white good enough? Do you have power available close to the location you want to use it? Is that location in the direct sun? Any plans to expand your security situation? ( door/ window / motion sensors …. Home alarm?) How much area do you want to cover with this 1 camera? Do you want motion activated recordings plus 24/7 continuous recordings? Do you just want to record anything that moves…. Or specific like just human only with alarms at night? Help us.

Oh…. They are built to be outside. Yes… sometimes they leak. Luck of the draw. If it happens during warranty they will replace it. I have a bunch of these out in the direct elements. No problems.

Fair questions, sorry for the slow start of this topic with too less details.

I do have an Eufy doorbell (with homebase) and indoor camera in the garage.
The purpose is to capture my driveway, where they broke into my car last week and it is just out of range of my doorbell.

I would like to have a camera which can be mounted outside and it is not an easy place to get power there, so barttery powered might be best. The driveway is 2 carlengths long roughly.

If I mount the camera on the wall of the house it will be in direct sun but also heavy weather.

Hopefully this will make sense a little bit

Ok… you have a homebase. So…. Regardless of how you want to use them… these are both PIR based cameras. The PIR needs to trigger or you will have no recordings or alarms/notifications. So here is a crash course. Can you find a spot to mount them (like 8ft high) where the person moving is within 25 ft (closer is better) of the camera moving across the cameras view…. Or within 5-10 ft of the camera if walking straight towards the camera? Location is the key with these. If so… then I would ask myself if that location has full sun for several hours out of the day.

It appears that you are not really using the homebase as a hub… so basically these cams are the same for you except for the light and solar. If you don’t have the sun you need then it’s an easy choice from there. I have several of the cam 2 pros. I don’t use the ridiculous magnet mount…. And I find the rain cover over the port to be a joke… but they have never failed me. I don’t have any solar cams as I live in Seattle …. But reviews say it’s a strong offering. Hope that gives you something to help make the choice.
