E40 Blue LED will not turn off when solar panel connected

I have a Eufy solar panel connected to a Eufy E40 camera. It charges properly. The solar panel icon and battery show up in the app. The blue LED is always on during the day even though the camera is set to solar panel on the app. My understanding is that light should be off always Support has been no help. If the blue LED stays on, does it affect anything. Seems like a firmware bug.

I know this isn’t a helpful comment. But I cannot get mine to charge correct. I have them placed under my eaves way low and angled toward the sun. They say that they charging, but they are always dead. Do you have any experience with this problem?

I read that the LED light should be off while it’s charging via the solar panel.

So it could be a bug?
If the LED stays on I don’t believe it will affect anything.

Maybe try toggling the Power Source to battery and then back to solar.

See if there’s a firmware update available?

If you have the option in Settings ~ Restart Device.

Also in Settings it may be under General ~ Status LED

I have tried all the above. Unplug solar panel, swap solar panel with one I have connected to an identical E40 which works correctly. Restart device inside app. Reload everything again. Toggle solar/battery. Toggle status LED. That only affects the other LED for motion. The one thing I find odd is if I push the button on the camera for 8 to 10 seconds, I only get one beep, where inside the app it will generate 2 beeps on reset. My conclusion is the camera has a bug or is defective. Has latest firmware. This camera was just installed. I purchased it a while ago and can’t find the receipt, so it seems Eufy won’t help me. What is odd is it does charge properly. My concern is it overcharging. Does the blue LED always on during the day affect anything. A piece of black tape could fix it.

Well it seems you did just about everything and more trying to figure it out.

Holding the sync button down for 10 seconds to reset the camera should generate two beeps.

  • Press for 2 seconds to enter setup mode
  • Press for 8 seconds until you hear two beeps to reset.

Do both cameras have the same firmware versions?

I don’t think they’ll be an issue with it. The camera does have charging protection circuitry.
Just keep an eye on the battery percentage charge, I believe it has a threshold as when its 60 ~70%, it’ll start charging the battery.

Both have same firmware. Both have same Eufy branded solar panel (not cheap). Eufy support says rest assure that blue light staying on during the day is normal. It is not normal. They also tell me it does not affect performance. Assuming there is battery protection, it should be ok. In the next breath Eufy tells me if I find the receipt they will go forward with a warranty request. I guess I will live with it and see if a firmware update comes out to address this. Again as I posted you can not get 2 beeps holding down the button, no matter how long. Means to me there is some kind of issue. camera stays fully charged so I will not bother any more.
