Anyone with the S340 have problems with the solar panel not charging? My camera purchased in November, 2023 . Power manager shows steady decline in battery since July. Today battery was at zero.
Yesterday I cleaned the solar panel and relocated it to face South (Central Florida area).
Have camera plugged in and it’s charging so that makes it look like the solar panel is bad.
Already contacted support waiting for a reply.
Just wanted to see if anyone else had issues with the solar panel.
I have the same problem as many others in this community… that is, that the S340 is not charging via provided solar panel. I have installed two of these cameras, by the book AND played around with the power/battery/solar settings. I have thoroughly checked the connections, restarted the device numerous times and even taken them down and fully charged them to 100%… nothing has reset the battery to accept charge from the solar panel.
Both cameras are new and up to date, as of December 2024.
We’re located in the Snowy Mountains, in Australia, and the panel gets plenty of direct sunlight, most days. Some days it tells me that the panels are not detected, but they’re definitely there and nothing has changed.
Given so many in the community have the same issues, what is Euphy actually doing about it?? Seems like it’s a firmware issue… Euphy please fix this ASAP otherwise they’re very expensive junk! I set these up for my 75yo parents on our farm, and they can’t be going up ladders every two weeks to pull these things off and charge them!
S340 are active cams… I got mine wired up and it still charges 24 hrs. A day not quite getting up to 100%… With that being said mine picks up motion all night every night wearing down the charge… but ya… had I not wired it up, imI would of had big problems…
Put it in line between the solar panel and the camera to see just what is going on.
You’ll be able to see the output voltage of the solar panel and the Amps/mAh the cameras battery is drawing charge.
The issue for me is that I don’t live close by, to my parents to try different things (ie in-line meters). The fact is they’re brand new and should just work… and given the hassles that others are having, it’s clearly something that Euphy need to address.
After removing the camera and fully charging on a power outlet overnight, the interface between battery and panel was working, today, and charging (but only on one of the cameras). I will monitor further, however both cams started out being fully charged, prior to installation.
Prior to doing this, I had also tested if the panel would power the camera directly, which it did and was able to do consistently.
It seems to only be an issue between the panel and the internal battery. I’m not sure if there’s any configuration that can be done via IP address connection, but otherwise it would seem to be a firmware issue.
Firmware is fully up to date (updated at registration) and prior to install they were both fully charged with a high capacity charger…
I know that some of these batteries have to be “woken up” by a full charge, prior to use… still didn’t prevent the issues I’m experiencing.
The second camera will have to be pulled down in a few days, for a full desktop charge, because the battery is at 30% and decreasing. Not an easy cam to get to, though… so don’t want to be doing this every second week. Euphy just needs to fix these issues that people are reporting.
I have the same issue. Just received a replacement solar panel after Christmas, charged all and now it is dead again! It is -30’ today, so have to haul out 15’ metal ladder and climb up to get it down to bring in and charge. Charge takes at least 8 hours. Crawl up and reinstall. Worst part is I have a male tresspasser 3 times in last day or so at all hours right now. Eufy is letting me down. I’m also older so this isn’t exactly what I signed up for!
I am having the same problem. After receiving a replacement camera and installing the solar panel in a different location using the provided extension cable , the camera started charging but it still won’t hold the charge.
After reading the comments here, I’ve surmised that the S340 is a piece of junk and Eufy should replace this camera with a comparable model that actually works
Is this with the built in solar? Mine charges but not a lot, and only when it has a lot of power so my assumption is that they work only in direct sunlight, rather than just ambient daylight… which is a shame, as a little bit would be better than nothing at all.
As thorough as you have been…I’m guessing that your solar panels are lined up with the correct angle where you live. Solar panels need proper solar alignment than just having light hit the panel. There are apps and YouTube videos to help aim you solar panels to the proper alignment. Good luck!
