Entry sensors aren’t just for door & window detection! What do you use yours for?

Great little tutorial Paul :+1:
I love your Top 5 applications for this product! Although, I’ll refrain from installing one on the toilet seat lol

Does anyone know if these entry sensors can be used outdoors? I have a side gate that I would love to install one. If it happens to rain though, I wouldn’t want it to fail or be destroyed.

Nice video, very cool.

They’re not made for outdoors but I use one on my shed with no issue

Some good points.

Thank you for your reply.
I’m trying to find something that will alert me if my side gate to my backyard is opened by someone. I’m thinking of adding a camera pointing directly at it so I will get the alert, plus the event recording as well. I was just hoping a small sensor would work and it would be a simpler install.

It would definitely alert to a gate opening - you want to wrap some electricians tape around the unit to protect from weather

I used them to see if I left the front door open.

I really want to use mine in Google home it shows but can’t be used for automation unfortunately

I want to put one outside on my gate but not sure how would hold up with the rain and weather?

I’d recommend you weather proof it maybe with silicone sealant or electricians tape

Why my eyfy camera doesn’t share or can’t capture any people that commit crimes it’s just looks like just a display for looks only :joy:

That’s what I was thinking…or seal both pieces in plastic baggies or something lol

You literally asked the same question that I did above as well, even for the same reason too lol

I spotted that

Glad you enjoyed :grinning:

I noticed after I said it :man_facepalming:. I was going to put the part with the battery inside a small plastic bag or something. As the other parts just a magnet to sense if it’s open or closed so that wouldn’t need weather proofing. Could be hard to get it to stay stuck to wood outside in bad weather though.

Awesome
