Hi - I’ve had the Eufy doorbell for a week now and it’s been excellent so far. It’s hit 30dg C in North London today and I’ve just had a notification on my phone that said Eufy doorbell is overheating.
Mine is hardwired in but obviously still has the batteries installed. Can I just ask if it switches itself off if it gets too hot, or simply bursts into flames and takes my house out with it?!!!
Is there anything I can do to alleviate this? Obviously I can’t change the aspect of my house so yes, it has to sit in the sun all day because that’s where the front door is. Does Eufy replace the doorbell if it stops working?
The device is rated to 50 Deg C on the high end, so 30C shouldn’t be an issue. If you get any more overtemp alarms, take a screenshot and record the actual temperature and open a ticket with support. They are not usually very helpful, but they may be able to help in this case and if your device burns up, you at least have a record that you had an issue.
Well, with the sun beating down on it the internal components of the camera can be 15 to 20° hotter then outside temperature.
If you notice it on cooler days_ doorbell is overheating_ then there may be an issue with the temperature probe.
Safety charging features will stop charging the battery, though that won’t stop the heat from damaging the battery or burning up.
You’ll receive a notification or see in the app~
Camera offline or camera has shut down due to overheating.
In your situation you may want to purchase a cover / Video Doorbell Camera Canopy if you have space to mount one.
