Hello everyone,
Sorry to reignite this thread but I have suddenly developed a fault with my Doorbell E340. I purchased it back in July 2024 and it’s worked flawlessly until about a month ago when it suddenly died.
I had previously posted this thread to help others on how to install the doorbell after I faced some initial issues.
I’ve always had the doorbell hardwired and it always showed the charging icon with the battery filling up, it never reached 100% but that’s expected but always around 98%. This was consistent since first installation back in July 2024.
However, since about 1 month ago, the doorbell died. I therefore took it off the wall and thought to charge it via USB-C and it came back to life, with the battery percentage showing only a few percent. It took a whole 12+ hrs to complete it’s charge, where it peaked at 98%. I reinstalled it to the wired connection and again I could see the power/charge indicator as it was from original installation after checking the app again:
I can see that despite the power showing it’s charging, the % is going down slowly over the last week etc. Nothing has changed from a wiring or supplied power perspective - only the weather has been colder in the UK because of winter (dropping to 0 degrees Celsius) at times but last year we had a cold winter and the doorbell was fine.
As I continued to monitor the app, I could see the battery depleting, despite showing that it’s charging:
I had read online that cold weather can affect the Lithium battery and it’s ability to charge so I assumed it was likely that given the cold weather. Unfortunately it then failed again a few days later. I’ve since replicated the same steps and now I’ve been keeping an eye on the app.
Do we think the battery may be packing up here and possibly needs a replacement? Has anyone else encountered any similar issues?
Here’s the current firmware version:
Any help or feedback would be great.
Many thanks,
